A fine woman like that practically offering it on a silver platter? Ok. We gotta protect Earth from all kinds of terrestrial and outer space threats and all but we are still human. And she is gorgeous! Hell yeah! I would have laid claim to that in a heartbeat

I loved also how when Wilma had a romantic interest on the show, Buck would be seething! They were like a 1979 version of Mulder and Scully.

It's obvious, really. He's career military, and you're not allowed to fraternise with fellow officers. It's not that he doesn't want Wilma, he's just keeping to the moral code instilled into him during his training.

This video is sooo true! The worst dis from Buck was in the pilot p when Wilma threw it at him but he LOOKED AT HIS WATCH while she kissed him. OOOOOH! Then told her some other time! I don't care if the world is about to end! Asa man you acknowledge when a woman has graced you with her presence! Buck was a real SOB for that. Still I will watch the show today everytime it comes on Sci-Fi. Great job posting this.

Buck was not alone with this attitude -- years later, Jan-Michael Vincent (as Stringfellow Hawke in "Airwolf,") would meet a very attractive redhead named Caitlin O'Shannessy....but not do anything (except date other women, when it was *OH SO OBVIOUS that Caitlin had a thing for Hawke), much like Buck with Wilma. I think the writers did that on purpose!!

I never thought of it that way but you're right. For an old show they did do a good job of playing the ups and downs of their relationship...but I never realized just how sexist tv was back then till I saw this show on DVD as an adult. Every woman's skirt is the same size ;-) Not that that is a bad thing.

Nice job pointing out one of the things that made this show great. Typical technique, think: James Bond & Miss Moneypenny or Remington Steele & Laura Holt or Michael Knight & Bonnie Barstow or Cagney and Lacey -- kidding on that last one but you get the idea. The sexual tension between Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering has to be one of the best of 'em. Good video!

Quite easy to umderstand why it never happened between Buck and Wilma. Storylines would get too complicated. Also leaving it at "will they won't they" keeps people wondering about it. (See China Beach for the same effect) Basica rules of TV plots Nobody dies Nobody has kids Nonody marries

I have to wonder if Buck was a bit intimidated by Deering? Consider that he was from the 70s space program when the women that were "tough" were all in the feminist movement; and not appreciated by his type of man. And she has him out-ranked as well. All the other women he got with were the mewling loose type; what he was used to. Deering would be a bit of a conundrum to him and he didn't know how to react.

Wilma was like a frozen steak in the back the freezer, you know it will keep and be there when you need or want it! In the mean time he had defrosted meat ripe for the taking in almost every episode, Markie Post, Anne Lockehart etc...plus he had to work with her, better to screw around with someone you don't have to work with!

Wilma is so beautiful. How could Buck not want her. I always waited for the episode 'Buck rodgers Wilma' but it never happened. I always thought Princess Ardala was horny looking too, but she was overshadowed by Wilma in her white jumpsuit. The music is nice. Somebody mentioned Amanda Frazier, I can't find info about her.

Yeah, but the difference is that I'm from England. The only reason that anyone does martial arts over here is the prospect of being able to rub your parping trumpet over some other unsuspecting participant. Can't believe that things are any different in the States, but then you guys are pretty weird.

Well, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that. I guess we'll never really know Buck's motives (or his sexuality) since the show isn't on any more. If they decide to remake it, like they did with Battlestar Galactica, then perhaps we'll see which of us was right.
