Thanks for the review! Bought the blaster recently and having a bit of an issue because the PBW foams quite a lot. Also, I have the impression that the pump does not generate enough pressure for pushing the water through the dip tube of the keg. Have you been noticing any of that?

Thanks Thomas. Ive had more foaming from Star san personally, though its really not a problem if you set it up in your bath or somewhere else where it does not matter. I regularly use mine to clean the floating dip and get a nice flow. Could be your pump is either clogged or faulty?

David if you're washing a brewing system with this as you suggested, what catches the liquid? As the 15l bucket diameter is much smaller than the diameter of the brewing system?
@DavidHeathHomebrew

Hi, very sorry for the late reply, this one got missed by KZitem it seems on my notifications. It depends on the brewing system. Anything larger is not going to be suitable. The fermzilla 35L fits nicely for example but the 65L does not.

Great video David. I agree, the price makes it extremely attractive. It is very similar in design to the Ss Brewtech Keg WaSsher (www.ssbrewtech.com/products/keg-wassher). I've made my own version of a nearly identical setup. As I use a floating dip tube in my kegs and as such want to be able to quickly flush the silicone hose out. I've put a tap inline with the main upright tube. I can activate my tap, turning off liquid to the upright and the pump flushes the liquid through the post washers only. This means I can quickly squirt liquid into the keg while the keg is not actually inserted into the washer unit, I can discard this spent liquid. This is useful if you're cleaning several kegs and want to keep the wash water relatively clean through out. I personally prefer to give each keg a quick swirl out with some fresh water first and then use my washer. The addition of a tap imo, even on this system, and I would think a simple gardening irrigation tap would do, would be worth it, however the tap addition does require you to be a bit onto it because you might inadvertently activate the main upright spraying liquid everywhere....I have not yet done this, touch wood. I also just use standard soft beer line which works fine. This unit appears to use a sturdier gas type line?? But I might be wrong here. Look, mine cost me not much as I made it from left over bits and bobs and wasn't a hassle, but if this is 80nzd or less then this would be a no brainer bit of kit. Another great video thanks again David

I bought this kit but was surprised when I read in the accompanying manual that the pump was only rated for water @ 35 C which is a bit too low to be honest. Also noted as a warning in the online manual available at Kegland. I usually wash at about 50 C (allrounder) and 60 C for kegs. What temperatures do people use for cleaning when using the pump?

Hi David, I've been using the Bucket Blaster for a few months now and can say from my experience with it that it is the most effective fermenter and keg washer I've ever used. It is very effective in cleaning the krausen ring from inside narrow necked fermenters like the Fermentasaurus where in the past I've had to use bent bottle washer brushes or fill the inverted fermenter with PBW and wait until the deposits 'desolve' from the plastic surface. Keg washing is a breeze, it takes about 5 mins to set up and fill the bucket to about 5 cm or so above the pump, add the PBW and fit the item to be cleaned. It takes about 10 mins to effectively clean a fermenter of deposits and less time for a stainless steel corny keg including its dip tubes. After cleaning, the bucket is emptied, quickly rinsed and filled to just above the level of the top of the pump with a measured amount of sanitiser. The sanitising process takes a lot less time. Warning!! You need to be vigelant here and not walk away and leave it running or you will end up with sanitiser foam everywhere. This is a very good product and makes clean up much more pleasurable experience than it was in the past.
@DavidHeathHomebrew
4 жыл бұрын
Great to hear Dave. Yes this has been my experience. The sanitiser side can be foamy. I will try Saniclean, I think that will work out better than others.

David - Hopefully you’re still receiving notifications. Is that a Brewer’s Edge Mash & Boil in the video? I don’t keg at all so my interest in the BB is for cleaning that as I brew in my condo kitchen and prefer not to use my smallish double kitchen sink anymore than necessary as it is awkward to wash it out there. If the M&B fits, I may buy the BB.

@FermentationAdventures

I do have the Mark's Keg Washer.. I like it quite a bit, but it has one serious issue. The plastic clips that keep the carboy holder in place are a thin plastic. As there are three of them, and they are molded into the basin they will break over time. These can't be replaced, and require the entire basin to be replaced.. and the basin can't be purchased separately. The one advantage of Mark's over the bucket blaster is, you'd be able to clean that 30L fermenter with the Marks, but you can't with the bucket blaster.. unless you have access to a bigger bucket or something.

@@DavidHeathHomebrew I've been using it for a month or so now on glass carboys and corny kegs. Kegs no worries but glass carboys take hours, especially at the luke-warm maximum rated temp of the pump. Common to take hours to get the ring off, which is usually more stubborn on carboys due to the longer ferments than pressure vessels. It's essentially just running a warmish, shallow, laminar flow over it...never going to be amazing.
