Great job! It’s amazing how much you can learn by watching others. I have been doing firewood since I was a kid, now 60 and always pick up new techniques from others. Thanks for your time and expertise. God bless, stay safe. P.S. Nice sharp chain!!

Thanks for the tip on using the wedge so my bar does not get pinched when log or tree is under pressure. I just got my peavey today with a built-in stand to help make cutting logs that are on the ground safer and easier.

Whale oil beef hooked! The wedge thing is very clever, and bracing the saw on my body is something that should have been a natural thing…. I just need a little time to get comfortable with my saws. Thank you for the vid.

If you'll learn what "ream the cut " means, you won't be so dependent on wedges.

All fine and good, but you didn't show how you got the tree off the ground with logs under it. This is what most people have difficulty with. How do you get a 5000 lb tree off the ground?

He didn't get the tree off the ground.... One side of the tree, was still attached to the stump, and the branches were supporting the other end of the tree. And he just rolled a small log underneath the tree... he didn't have to lift the tree up, to get the log underneath.

My thoughts, he placed the logs under the landing zone before doing the triangular cut.. perhaps he placed multiple logs in diff locations for all possibilities. Either way, he gives solid advice on wedging here.

I have a very old book from better homes and garden that shows you how to build a log cabin and in that example they use small logs to leverage the other logs around. I'm very small in stature and have little upper body so I have to use leverage and extention a lot 😂 strength.

Probably because he’s being filmed, Health and Safety emphasised. The same reason why he keeps applying the brake.

Ah yes. Love it when a tree fells perfectly onto some logs to keep it off the ground
