I'll take the Aurora Mall but Round the Corner was way ahead of its time. Miss all of the old malls; Villa Italia, Crossroads in Boulder, Westminster and Cinderella City. Shout out to the Celebrity Sport Center on S. Colorado Blvd. And movie theaters inside of the malls.

Oh my!! Memories!❤️ We lived in Byers-my mom worked at the fabric store when the mall first opened. She would take myself, my sisters and my friends to work with her occasionally. We had a little Toyota truck with a camper shell. Some would climb in the back-some rode upfront -packed in. We would spend the day hanging out. Going to the movies was a treat. I think one of the largest theaters in the area at that time. And Orange Julius-they we’re the best. They’ve since changed the recipe and they are nasty now. Oh the memories. And of course-you had to add Buffalo Springfield for the background music. Now that’s another whole set of memoirs-Colombian gold 🥳😉

I remember those mirrored ceilings with the lights embedded in them - my family would go here every now and then in the 80s and 90s when I was a kid - I can remember an automated puppet that would ride a unicycle across a tightrope that extended across the width of the concourse and wonder how it never fell down. In its waning years I would go here to visit the Mile High Comics, KB Toys, and vintage car store that remained, but I would also go simply because this place was a legit time capsule; it seriously hadn't been touched from the time it was built, and there was something appealing about going just to take in the ambiance.

I would go to Buckingham square in the 70’s and early 80’s. I remember walking over that bridge in my falore wedge shoes. I have great memories of wasting time walking up and down the long isle with corduroy pants. I remember eating at the counter of woolworths- even then thinking it was old fashioned. Too many quarters spent at the arcade playing Pinball Wizard! But best of all was Round the corner restaurant, with the phone ordering and yummy French fries dipped into a strawberry shake. I would always keep change to call my mom from the Pay phone to come pick me up as the Saturday afternoon turned into dusk.

there was a 5th movie house in the theaters, it was in that shop on the left of the movie house area. I watched a movie in it, back in the early 1980's it only had room for about 20 people. It was made into a shoppette later. that really big department store was Joslin's, they added another floor to the top of it, hence the stone siding is only present on the bottom part. (a good friend of mine who lost everything twice had to work entrance duty during the holidays at Joslin's) I had a blast in the HYDRO-TUBE ! this was on the west middle side of the mall, Hell the ramps and slides were in a chain link fence area for years outside the west parking lot, before they actually built the waterslide. Would go all day water sliding, that was back in 1985-1986 times. RadioShack was moved to the west of the movie theaters twice, once down on the hallway level, then finally directly to the west of the theaters, originally down close to Joslins in the west hallway north side. I always shopped here, there was a oriental shop that sold Levi's Jeans much cheaper than the BIG NAME stores. Woolco was on the east side closer to the theaters. I hated the Aurora MAUL. too many gang looking people so this was the mall to shop at.

Very emotional video for me. Me and my father were and still are model train fans. For as long as my memory can take me back, I remember the Buckingham square mall model train show. They always hosted the show around my birthday. I have many memories from there that i'm still chasing to this very day that are from there. I remember the modular train layouts they had there with the long, long coal trains running around. I'm still to this very day putting together those long coal trains I remember from there. What memories that place held dear to me. :'(

I just came across this piece. Man, that brought back memories. Me and my pals used to hang out here all the time ('74-76). Mom would give me 5 dollars for some hotdogs and a large Orange Julius, and then several dimes to call home so she could pick us up. Remember when you had to be at one end of the mall or the other at a certain time, and your moms would call the pay phone to make sure you were there? "Make sure you are at the movie theatres at 4;30, YOU UNDERSTAND! Man, that brought back memories. Thanks

Old video? Just came across this while watching some new video about the Cinderella City Project people are making. This was in the related videos on the side. I lived near Cinderella City when I was a kid. My mom moved out to within blocks of the Buckingham Square Mall. We would shop there with the grandkids. There was a water slide there as well. I would drive by that mall in the latter years and saw its demise. When they tore it down, all I saw was an open field. Then the big boxes built their stores. I do business in that area and remember what was there before the Sprouts is.

Man. Talk about memories. Unfortunately, I only remember it being in the 90s when it was pretty much defunct and empty like in the photos. It was cool cause the mall and most patrons couldn't care less.

I just randomly came across this while searching for a photo of the old Round the Corner restaurant! So cool! Thank you for putting this together. I lived in a house on Ironton street that was about 2 blocks from Mississippi when I was in 1st-3rd grade ( 87'-89'ish ) and then went to an alternative high school about 10 years later. Thru that decade, I was alllllways at that mall. I remember the Gap store, Orange Julius, Hickory Farms, the candy store, Woolworths, Melvins, Joslins, FURS, Round the Corner and ordering from the phones at the tables, the movie theaters... I remember when you could smoke cigarettes IN the mall! We would hang out there as bad little teenagers and smoke and watch movies and be annoying haha! Sad to see it turn into what it did before they tore it down and definitely happy to see this little memorial of it! Great memories!

The arcade was located in some far-flung corner of the mall, just past a nail salon. You'd have to walk through a cloud of acetone fumes just to get there. Inside they had a game called "Splatterhouse" that was darker and gorier than anything I'd ever seen. The combined effect of the chemicals in the air and the horrifying supernatural tone of that game blew my mind. My brother and I would go play it every time our parents took us.

In the end almost all of MD's malls died. Metro North, Metcalf South, and Indian Springs, in Kansas City, Buckingham and Westminster in Denver, Southwyck Mall in Toledo, Westmain Mall in Kalamazoo, and the Crestview Hills Mall, in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. That leaves the Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, which they only helped develop and never owned, and the East Hills Mall in St. Joseph, Missouri which is the only one of their properties they've ever bothered to invest in since the early 90's. I don't count West Minster since they did too little too late to save it. I should have realized that this was an MD mall way earlier than today. It has the same dated flooring and fixtures as many of their other closed and demolished malls.
