Thank Bill for commenting. Most generally anytime you create an opening,you will stimulate a growth of new habitat, and consequently the wildlife will follow,especially if you are void of any agriculture in the area.

@@Buckman-101 Yes sir, I sure will. I'm 35 born & raised in Western MD. Fortunately I work at a state park 2 miles from my home. I used to shoot spikes & 4 points, but I have not killed a buck since 2021. I am challenging myself with the goal of getting a nice 8 or 10 with my compound. Three years ago I decided to challenge myself & the amount I learned from the past 3 years is more than my previous 25. At times I'm disheartened, because I am yet to get a nice buck. Although I believe if I keep it up, good things will happen.

Remember 2 things while dreaming of one day bagging that monster. Number 1,,think of all that you are learning along the way while in pursuit. Number 2 ,,contrary to what many guys think,,,killing a big one will not all of a sudden give them a " big one".😢 Remember ,killing is final.The game stops there. Nowadays I have no problem filling the freezer with a young buck.Good eaters. All joking aside,I get where you're coming from.Hell I cried like a baby when I killed a double shovel caribou with my homemade arrows and a longbow up in Newfoundland. What I'm getting at is that most of have goals to meet,and that is what keeps us going in life.Sometimes we are able to achieve them,and others we fail.

I really enjoy your videos. I’m a mobile hunter in central west Michigan and the last three years I killed deer off the ground. Don’t get me wrong I love the view of being in a tree but hunting can be just as deadly if not more than dealing with all that equipment. High pressure big woods hunting. No farms. I’m proud of the doe I shot last year in an oxbow. Hunted off the ground with my tree stand sitting next to me. Love your videos!

I grew up in Florence County, but I always ended up hunting the lower part of the state because I could never find deer in the Northwoods. You’re changing my mind, I think I’m in a hunt back up here again

thanks Karl for the comment. people become quite mesmerized when venturing into large vast areas . Usually you can eliminate a high percentage of the area and focus on where the trails lead you.The deer will lay it all out for you.. Just boots on the ground my man.

I always enjoy the challenge of finding the sign then trying to figure em out and put a plan together. It’s not easy but when it works the sense of accomplishment is the best - only earned by doing the work

So glad you call them droppings .. And not poop ! Are you thinking of making a mock scrape at that licking branch you set up ?
@Buckman-101

once the bucks deposit their pre-orbital and forehead scent on the branch,everything else will develop in time.When they become aggressive,the scrape will also develop. as the season progresses I will show you how my mocks are coming along,because most of them also have cameras. thank you for the comment,Charles

I agree I would hunt near the water early as well but the water is at the bottom so hunting on the ground with the deer coming from above might be difficult. If he can go further up the ridge and get within shooting distance of the trails going to the water it might be gold. He seems to know where they bed.

I think you could set up in 10 different spots there and still shoot a buck but the key to getting the big buck is access without spooking and a spot where your scent will blow into a non deer area. That may limit you to one spot seldomly hunted only with perfect conditions

Those were great comments.Its good to see different thoughts and strategies. My access to the area is rather easy coming from the east,going in to the west. I personally like those trails closer to the water.Ive had previous luck hanging closer to the lower trails. But just about when you have it all figured out,they decide to take another trail.Thats what keeps us going I guess. Thanks for the comments 0:03
