The first 2 seasons were kinda of an embarrassment for the Navy. There was no carrier called the "Sea Hawk". The show got any footage at sea was available. In that episode it was USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). ALL persons on the flight deck wore protective head gear and eye protection. A plane would not have landed or launched during helo operations. USN, 77 to 87. Three carriers, USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64)X-3 DIV, USS JOHN F. KENNEDY (CV 67) Communications Dept Yeoman and USS CORAL SEA (CV 43) Captain's Office. A carrier flight deck is one of the most dangerous work places anywhere. JAG was lax until they caught up and then came ashore in the last seasons.

All about saving money and getting through the first few seasons. Last thing you want is for the network to cancel your show because it was too expensive.
