Great review. I have 100+ rounds on my Champkeys mc and they are holding up very well. I have a golf pride grip on my driver and the only difference i notice is comfort. But im not out there to be comfortable, im out there to drop bombs and embarrass my friends.

The golf pride mcc grips a very firm also. Just the nature of the beast.

FYI: broke the shaft on my 7 i and got it reshafted so had to pay for a new grip. Got the golf pride grip that looks like these and it really isn’t thy different at all.

I buy and sell older clubs and by far the best older grips have been golf pride. They last for decades so I find it hard to believe that you need to change grips every year. If you have cheap grips then sure but the quality of golf pride and not having to change them every year would be so much cheaper.

I guess it depends on how much you play. I play year round due to having a simulator. Even the Golf Pride website says once a year is a baseline. I've had all sorts of different kinds of grips - including Golf Pride. I would say that they do tend to last longer but not necessarily long enough to justify the price increase. Ultimately you need to be satisfied with what you spend / what you buy.

The main issue with these grips is they weigh like 10 grams more for the midsize version than the real Golf Pride Multicompound midsize grips do. The Champkey weigh 70g per midsize grip compared to the golf pride MCC midsize weighing 60g. 10 grams of extra weight on the handle is a considerable difference. Shelling out the extra money for the golf pride ones you're paying for that efficiency in design that cuts weight.

Interesting - I would never have seen that. I personally wish I was good enough where 10 grams would make a difference 👍🏻. Thanks for the info.

Only problem I have is sweaty hands, so when pushing down my hand slips when making contact with the grooves in the rubber. For the rubber wrap

So you prefer a tackier grip then. I agree, they are not overly tacky.

I had exactly these midsize but switched to pure grips. I prefer the pure grips feel more.

Interesting I'm not familiar with pure grips. I'll have to check them out.

Pure grips are excellent, very tacky and comfortable. Unfortunately they've gone out of business.

Any idea how easily something like an arrcos or garmin meter screw in? I have some saplize grips and it’s a bit of a struggle to get the caps in the tiny holes

Unfortunately no. I don't have experience with either.

Why no tape overhang or twisted tape cap?
@GolfQuestChannel

As in tape that goes past the end of the shaft and gets twisted or tucked prior to the grip going on? If so, I did do that - it’s a subtle amount but it’s there.

@GolfQuestChannel yes that's what I was referring too, don't know if there is a technical term. In the video it looked like you lined up the tape edge with the end of the shaft. Must have been the camera angle
