i love your whole series on budget bikes its so great to watch and really informative. I have an idea for the next budget bike series...hyperbikes?? The most famous and iconic motorbike of all time is the one and only Suzuki Hayabusa and the next best thing that beat the top speed of the Busa ..zx14 or the ZZR14. Chris could find a 2006-2008 first series Kawasaki as he likes these bikes and Fagan could find a 2nd generation, Busa. The views would go through the roof with these to bikes and you could settle the score once and for all which overall after a 3-4 day test is the best bike

Expat on Two Wheels I had a '97 yzf750R , a '06 Raven just like Chris , an '09 CP4 Raven (crossplane changed my life) and good Lord a '15 R1 and ending on a '17 Supernaked R1 MT10 and I'm a Yamaha guy as well for sure (do love Ducati as well but my 999R was in the shop more than all my bikes combined ) the '06 was a beast, believe it had the quickest 0-60mph and 1/4 mile on a Factory bike ever up to that point but yes it was heavy , reliable as hell though! Agreed though, there was a gsxr1k that continued to ruin my track days back then lol so have to pray for Sue Perkins Raven! Mine had an Ohlins, Brembo and Termignoni upgrades and can say the Ohlins (his being much newer upgrade will help. Hp is good. Reliability next level, but bit of a hippo, SO excited for this BBB,...again lol

I've owned an '05 R1 for seven years. One very common fault is the magnetic plates glued to the inside of the rotor surrounding the coil. Prone to letting go, and many metal chunks get stuck in the motor oil. Also, catalytic converter. Bit weak on the shock, but that's been sorted. Bit heavy to steer as well, it requires commitment. Awesome, awesome motorbike. Give it love and it will never betray you.

Willi Poppe back in 06-10 I tracked a Ducati 999R Fila and an '06 Raven R1 just like Chris,..of course my Duc was AMAZING (back then) but always in the shop,...BUT I LOVED My '06 Raven as a track bike ,..Previous owner did an old Ohlins upgrade Brembo, some Titanium internals to help with the weight,..I'll tell ya,..the dual CF and titanium Termignoni full system sounds awesome on it adds good power and cuts a lil weight , I never once had a single issue with mine,..great track bike and can't complain having perfect reliability in a track bike lol BUT I did have a k5 rider ruin many a track days for me lol tho let's Jsut say maybe he was Jsut a better rider 😉 he did say tho he issues and Ecu problems but chased that tail a lot. Would say that if going R1,..that gen; go 2008 if u can, nearly identical prices and had some pros to the '05-07 and the best hp and performance of the gen. I personally went to '09 crossplane R1 after and was a game changer!! But a bit more! Then equally going to the new '15 cp4 r1 was that much better but for me...a 41 year old wreck broken rider , I went to a '17 MT10 and nodded and I run some better times believe it or not than on my r1's loose out on the long straight but the short tight stuff it blasts out the apex , plus I can ride it the 90 minutes home in comfort lol, find me used for '09 R1 prices now too. Your '05-08 parts are on every corner but u won't need it, AMAZING reliability, don't wash it with a hose tho, I was so careful and somehow got a wierd ignition issue for 2 weeks after , only Problem on any yamaha I've owned. Good luck in the quest! Not sure where ur buying but I think Al said his k5 had 42,000 miles 😳 can find used '06 ravens here in the west Us for $3k with under 10k miles look around for sure .

Worst part is the douche bag that was once a friend dragged out repairs then blamed me saying tires were too old ,..never paid for any of , quit our firm and disappeared never to be heard from again. I love looking back at the owners disbelief that they've managed to shunt their bucket of bits onto you with the apparent innocence of all the (ahem) foibles that you later discover. Like nearly all second hand buys you need to add at least another £500 plus incredible patience for the hassle of fettling all the bodges and cheap fixes that will be revealed. They know and secretly you know they know but you've got to find out. So it's buyer beware and if its ex-raced then buyer begone. Just save yourself that 500 mile round trip. Maybe better to not reveal the previous owners identity?

Andrew S if you're in the US look on cycletrader.com change the price to low to high and the search range to anywhere in the US ,..can get a '05-08 R1 with under 10k miles for $3-3500 all day long for that matter can get a '17 cp4 MT10 supernaked R1 in the $6-7k range with under 10k miles too . That's the trick in the Us, shipping is dirt cheap , may need to pay for a $300 round trip flight to check it out but can then ship it for less than $200 anywhere in the US. Worth it! I got a '17 FZ10 (MT10) 2 weeks after they launched here that same way. Bought it with only seeing a few pictures (as it was new) never rode it, but msrp was $12,999 us but ALL utah dealers were marking up $1,000+ so I searched that way and found California dealer that bought too many in the grey yellow so they dumped 2 new ones at $9,200 OUT the door, no dealer fees markups etc,..in the end i saved nearly $7,000 over buying in utah!!!! Just by searching that way. If in the uS try it! Worth it!

@@MZ-bl6wg Thanks for taking the time to post this. I recently (last week) took delivery of my first Honda RC51 and loved it so much that 4 days later I was driving a few hours to get another. Bought a 2001 GSX-R 1000 some time back with Dymag carbon wheels for $3200 and have been cleaning her up. Gonna be a nice bike. Only thing I take issue with is shipping cost. I bought my first RC from Wisconsin dealer (800+) miles away and waited a loooong time to get a shipper for $500. Uship etc recommended $350, but no interest from drivers. Definitely need to adjust bike cost for shipping and so on that bike I did 'ok'. Second one I got for $4000 in virtual showroom condition. Love the V Twin.
