Yeah I noticed that would be an issue during the start of the video and tried to guide the guys into saying the model name, then attempted to use the correct b roll over the "this" and "that" to make it somewhat intelligible. It's an interesting thing because it brings up the question of how a viewer best digests the video- from the audio, or the visual? My general hunch is that audio is 80% of a video, and I put far more work into the sounds than the visuals as a result. Thanks for the note!

I had a 2022 Marin Alpine Trail XR for the steep days (swapped to a Forbidden Dreadnought), and a Ripley AF for the cross country stuff we have around here in the north east. I have two friends that have just one bike, and that's the Rift Zone XR. This video was pretty bang on comparing the two models and I can confirm, you will have a party on either bike. I'll add my 2 cents that the rift zones active suspension climbs tricky tech sections a little better than the ripley's more efficient all day pedal platform. Thanks Jeff and the boys for another awesome video.

@@JeffKendallWeed Ha! Let's get technical: bike is short for bicycle. A mountain bike is a specific type of bicycle, but it's still a bicycle. And $3,000 is still a lot of money for one...for a lot of people, who may never even approach the limits of that caliber of a bike.

A $3,000 mountain bike is good for at least 5 years of riding. $600 a year to ride with friends, new friends and many, many adventures in places you normally wouldn’t go. Or in other words $50 a month. What does a gym membership cost these days? No one said you have to buy a $3,000 mtb, there are cheaper options like the Marin where you can use the saving for upkeep…

Now, I don't want every JKW to have this style of video but I liked the conversational feel and the less-than-perfect framing / focus. It must have taken some time to edit a lot of footage into something that felt well put together but still casual? I'm not sure I'm describing it very well.
