Nice video. What brand chain guide are you using?

It was a DYNWAVE (amzn.to/3vUgAGs). I’ve never heard of the brand, but it was cheap and works.

@@basicmtb I was checking out 3 different brands on Amazon and after close inspection it turns out they're all selling the same guide but with a different name on it. This makes 4 including your Dynawave. I'm guessing it's just a cheap chinese made guide that's rebranded by lots of different companies so I've ordered the one that was priced the lowest. It should arrive later today. Thanks for the installation tips!

@@storm3016 Yeah, unfortunately there's a lot of that on Amazon now. I try to stay with name-brands for the important stuff like tires/suspension/brakes, basically anything that could fail and cause a crash. For non-critical stuff like this chain guide, I don't mind going cheaper. Thanks for watching!

@@basicmtb Yeah, good thinking on the important bits. I had already ordered one on Amazon but accidentally found this guard on AliExpress for 6 bucks and change later on as well, lol. Same branding as the one I got too (ZTTO). But unfortunately the guard isn't able to keep my chain in check. Every once in a while it still jumps off the top of the front chainring on upshift and now it's even harder to get back on because of the guard. I wonder why my chain jumps so agressivly these days, it never ever dropped before until I changed the casette on my bike (I had to, the old one had a damaged high gear from factory). I even tried a 3th cassette thinking that was the cause but it didn't make a difference. I guess I have some more investegating to do. Cheers!

Compatible in 1x12?
@basicmtb

I don’t think so. Most 1x12 use a 12mm thru-axel. This uses the older style steel QR axel with nuts on each end.

Is the chainwheel a narrow/wide style?

Unfortunately, no. And I'd have to replace the whole crank to swap the chainring =(

Are u sure it not a direct mount type of chainring I have never seen a 1x crankset u can't change
@basicmtb

@@LarfyzIsAChadFN It can be changed, but you'd have to change the whole crank set. The chainring is welded to the crank - no bolts.

Dude you need to size your chain , to long it sags at the bottom bad
@basicmtb

That’s more a function of the spring tension in the derailleur. Taking a link or two might help a little but then I risk being too short to properly shift into the lowest gear.

Unfortunately, it can’t be turned, the vertical shock is in the way.
