I really appreciate my Kitchenaid stand mixer after seeing those 2 cheap plastic ones.

If you bolt a worn out car brake disc under the Homemaid unit's base it would settle it right down! quick coat of gloss black spray on the disc and the lady of the manor will be pleased to no end. (once she gets used to using a crowbar to move the mixer...8^) Cheers!

Oh those tabs on the dial for the second machine you're working on.. the bane of my existence.. I would have sheared those off no matter how gingerly I'd have tried, nope. I have the worst luck with little plastic tabs. Watching you sets goals for me to achieve. Maybe the next piece of equipment I work on I'll be more careful with little tabs, but I doubt it!! Edit: I also LOVE the fact that you can't not go in a little deeper knowing there could be the (in this case I don't want to give it way huh but you know what I'm saying) next logical part. I think the same way, and it's sometimes a bad thing but it pays off more than it doesn't, plus I know when to say when if something just isn't worth it at all. For this, totally worth it (but I'm only at the part you've decided to move on a little farther so I'm not sure how it goes, but I have an idea!)

That's why I love my Bosch UM3 from the 80s. No electronics to be found, rock solid build quality, spare parts still available, and outstanding repairability. Plus, it's faster and more powerful than my parent's MUM4, my UM3 at one point managed 1.5 kg of hard, tough pizza dough. Specs say 400 watts, but I think it's at least double of that when put under load. You can still buy new MUM6, but there's a good used market for MUM6 or UM3s. So if you want to get a good food mixer for cheap, I'd recommend Bosch. Either new or used. I wouldn't bother getting a throwaway product.

Didn't know about that model. I have the Braun KM-32, similar build quality but sadly no more parts for it, most are gone. Theres a sizeable following for them mixers in Germany...

@@gplusgplus2286 In Austria and of course Germany, Bosch mixers are very popular, although I've heard that they sell decently well in the US too, especially the MUM6, which is being called Universal Plus there. Bosch is a bit of a niche underdog I think. Mostly because if you think of a kitchen mixer, you think of a $500+ Kitchen Aid. And while they're brilliant mixers and good to repair, Bosch are pretty solid too. Plus, they're smaller, cheaper, and have a high-speed coupling for attaching blenders. Nice selection of other attachments as well.

Great video. It is not designed in obsolescence but more like a light bulb with a limited number of hours of run time. You can buy 10 of these cheap ones or one good one for the same money. It depends on how much you use them.

At the start of te vid I was like hey those sound like bad bearrings ... Yeah no bearrings at all, lol Unfortunately these kitchen things as well as many other household machines are just made to be assembled once and not repair friendly, at least these came apart without any plastics breaking off. Still a proper fix on the first one, second one probably as you mentioned misplaced magnet/sensor or even a broken sensor, like the old electronic regulated Dewalt routers which had similar issues.

Whenever I try to repair these chinesium machines almost always they end up dismantled in the bin... What contrast with my Mums 70s Braun KM-32 mixer which is built like a tank. You should see how the mixer beater attachment is built, a white bakelite top cover and everything else metal with the exception of one plastic sacrificial gear... No tabs, just tons of flathead screws. What a machine, sadly no more parts for it.

Mr Dean Doherty, have you thought about placing all the small parts you remove from the machines in an appropriate tray to keep the workplace in an orderly and neat manner and thus optimize quality and time?
@deandohertygreaser
Ай бұрын
I did, I have several magnetic trays for this. I find them a waste of time and don't find being organised helps me at all. I did lay things out when I started doing these repairs, but not anymore. It's funny, these parts are organised like any other man's organizing methods. It looks random and messy to others, but I know exactly where each part is.
