They must be relatively expensive and would definitely add up to the "budget" though. I personally would've found a much cheaper way to achieve a similar result and made sure to save enough portion of the money for the cleaning machine.

All the men in my family are carpet installers and flooring guys. it’s a pet peeve of theirs to have to watch after your pets to prevent any harm on top of everything else they have to look after while in your home (breaking items, scratching paint, liability issues). It’s kind of inconsiderate to have the subcontractor worry about one more thing while trying to do his job. Just put the dogs away.

It's not hard to put dogs (especially of that size) away for a short period of time for the safety of the pet and the people who are trying to work. Asking someone to compromise their safety is not cool.

It's considerate to put up your pets while people are trying to do work in your house, even if they say "it's okay". Your pets could get hurt on accident plus they slow down progress. The installation man has multiple jobs to do in a day so slowing him down could affect his pay.

i agree it’s actually very inconsiderate. All the men in my family after carpet guys. This is a big issue because people don’t get that you’re working with sharp, heavy, and hot objects that the dog can step on or get hit by. Just put the dog away, it’s not cute.

My brother is a contractor and he can’t stand it when they have a large rowdy dog clobbering him with excitement when he’s on the ground trying to work. It’s dangerous for the pet as well with tools lying around.

Literally me😂 I “installed” my ac that goes in the hole in my wall (more like picked it up like an ape and threw it towards the hole, and hoped for the best) and put hornet repellent spray everywhere and then stuffed dirty towels around the ac to secure it in the hole, and i duct taped it shut 😂😭

It would also help to regularly get your pup's paw pads shaved. It will prevent their fluffy fur from getting in between the floor and the grip of their pads.

The dogs are clearly shown to be out and about while they're working, right in front of them too. They're tiny dogs and are getting bumped into constantly, it's more difficult to get stuff done in fear of stepping or running over them. Or lord forbid the dogs get into something sharp or toxic.

i would have used the rest to make a mat for the bottom of the stairs! that way if pup loses their sight it's easier to find the stairs and you won't slip when you hit the bottom!

It depends the angle. Looking down the stairs I think it clashes and there's not enough contrast with the lighting. But looking at it from the door angle, it looks good with the white of stair and natural light. If this were me, I'd definitely choose a different color though.

I would be obsessed with the fact that the carpet doesn’t reach the floor on the first step. I can see how the light colored carpet might pick up a lot of dust & dirt right by the front door, but I hope you’re adding some trim/moulding to fill that gap.

@@batacumbayeah, ig it depends on the dog, but I know mine is super hyper and friendly. She is usually well-behaved, but she just gets so excited meeting new people she’s want to play with the workers, plus with all the noises and new smells she’d just be really curious and would end up being in the way, which can not only make it take longer and be annoying, but it could end up being dangerous for her and the people depending on the equipment they’re using, so I always put her in a closed off area to avoid any issues. I do the same with the cat, especially if they are going to be in and out of the door because she likes to run outside lol.

As someone who works in a flooring store there is absolutely a quality and service difference in purchasing Home Depot carpet - it looks good now but I would love to see a follow up in 1 year.

@@starsonapollo2 I would say find a reputable local flooring store - they usually stock carpet that is good quality at more of a budget price. A salesperson should measure/estimate your project for free - and it never hurts to ask for a discount. Purchasing local (if you can) should guarantee someone will be with you every step to make sure it is perfect - and they will still be there long after the job is done. Where I work we have been in business for 40+ years and my boss would rather make less $ than jeopardize his reputation. I think most small businesses feel the same way. Just my two cents 😊

@@carollynt It would be more than a thousand in our store (step labor, etc.), but any carpet store has stock carpeting they buy in bulk and it is less expensive than ordering from the store. Carpet stores anywhere carry higher grade carpet than box stores. I’m just saying it is an investment - something I honestly never realized until I worked in flooring.

Yay!! I’m so glad you did something to help your fur baby and make sure they are safe. That’s amazing! I’ve spent a bunch on vet bills so I could totally see myself doing this exact thing if I needed to because I wouldn’t want any vet bills. I could see broken bones or torn ACLs or something worse from falling. Luckily my stairs are already carpeted. I thought about doing wood throughout the house tho so this really made me open my eyes and now I’ll keep the carpet on the stairs for my fur babies. I need them safe and happy. They are my loves. :-) anyway sending you, yours, and anyone reading this all of my best wishes and love!! Give the fur babies some scritches from me!!

Beautiful job. We love our pets and now she can use the stairs without slipping down and maybe getting hurt. I love the blue edging. Someone mentioned that it looks like blue painting tape and the color that you have is nowhere near the color of blue paint tape.😊

I disagree. She just wanted a runner to help the dog get upstairs. A piece of carpet at the base of the stairs would make it look silly and get dirtiest in that spot, imo. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

@@yaya804 I dont think they mean for it to sit in front of the stairs like a rug. If you look closely, its about 2 inches from the ground & it makes it look like they ran out of carpet. It doesnt look seamless & intentional.

We recently took off our cheap Amazon stair runners that we installed for my elderly dog (who passed a year ago) because they were starting to fray. The wood underneath is so beautiful, but I would give anything to still need a reason to keep those stupid rainbow rectangles of carpet. Old dogs are so loved and love solely in return. Cherish your time with your furry one because they’ll leave a paw print on your heart forever. Well done dog mama! May your stairs need reasoning for carpeting for many more dog years to come! 💜

Great solution! IMO, the edge should have been the same color as the carpet.

Okay but why film up close & personal standing over him the whole time. The dog should be put away for many reasons especially if you want a well done job. He’s trying to work while the dog is right in the middle of the hallway.
