those welds are all cold welds grind it out and turn your welder up and reweld if you want it to hold in the trail or road im referring to the ones up front !
@eugenpop1505

Exactly that's what I wanted to say too!! He welded to cold and also with GMAW ( solid wire). Be careful!! Hope that your welds will hold. But if there is a big strain on the metal structure you will not want to rely on hope right!!?? And on a 4X4 there will be sometimes for sure. See how it goes but next time use SMAW ( stick) or Fluxcore wire instead! My opinion :) Otherwise great project and thanks for sharing!

when you have a shackle flip in the rear suspension goes up and back those traction bars wont let your suspension to do that its gonna wanna jam.. look up traction bars with a shakle on them so it can allow your suspension to flex more

I built a 2wd to 4wd S10 on Toyota axles few years ago. Have fun cleaning all that 2wd suspension stuff off the front. Nc4x4.com the build thread is called the hornet if your interested. BTW that steering setup won’t work long, axle droop on the drive side will cause issues. I used a Astro van box and crossover steering. I sold the truck a few years ago and ended up buying it back few months back. Cool truck I’ll be following.

Use degree shims under the lewd springs to correct your pinion angle. Would've saved you a shitload of work.

Traction bars would be better if they were way beefier and hooked up to the actual axle. Not the top of the leaf. Basically a ladder bar

looking very good so far Kip! go with 1 ton truck shocks with lift kit!
@workhard3994
7 жыл бұрын
gilliland426 1 ton suspension on a small truck like that would ride like a tank very rough not enough weight to compress the suspension down.. need a half ton suspension at least
@gilliland426
7 жыл бұрын
Kip already has 3/4 ton axles on the truck and putting 1 ton shocks on the truck with the lift kit will work just fine. he is building a off road truck not a mall crawler... don't need a soft ride!
@workhard3994
7 жыл бұрын
gilliland426 axles wont effect ride the suspension will and tou dont want 3/4 nor 1 suspension on a light truck like that it would ride like a dump truck or tank.. he wont have any flex in trails cause yhe truck wont have enough weight to even bend the 3/4 or 1 ton suspension a hair bit 3/4 and 1 ton trucks weight from 6k to 8k his small truck maybe 3 to 4k
@gilliland426

Jamie Round Chevy's full size pickups come in different payload ratings: 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton, and used to be labeled with 10 for 1/2 ton, 20 for 3/4 ton, 30 for 1 ton and the C stands for 2wd and K for 4wd. There's more to it but basically he's talking about a 3/4 ton 4wd suspension.
