My only complaint is the bearing rein. It forces their heads to remain in an upright position, its why they toss their heads so much. It causes pain when they pull , not allowing the horses to put their heads down in a natural pulling position.

@@chandrasmith1056 until fully hitched the bit isn't in their mouth....it's the curve piece ( by their lips) in front, they know it's there and are mouthing it because they are ready and set to go! that's a ton oh hardware and reins to co ordinate. The fact that those horses stand pat and hardly move during the whole proceedure while having a loud speaker and huge crowd around really speaks to their training and willingness .

What an amazing trip I had a few years ago to the farm in Boonsville Missouri. I got to have my picture taken with one of the parade horses. What an awesome experience!!!! Back in the 70's I went to Disney World. We camped on the little island and had to take a ferry over to the Kingdom area. We found out that the Clydesdales were kept on the island and went to see them. There were signs everywhere to keep out. My friend and I went up to the fence to get a closer look at the Clydesdales in the barn. We were horse owners and really appreciated the care that they horses got. One of the handlers saw us and said it was okay to take a look. Boy, talk about well taken care of and having everything good in life. They were beautiful! They looked so healthy and happy!

I love these horses......they are stunningly beautiful!! Why do they keep moving their mouths? I'm assuming it bothers them? Also, I see them tossing heads up, side to side, etc when all the gear is on them. It's not too bad right now......in another video after they were done working. They were all tossing their heads....all over. Hopefully it doesn't bother the horses.....as much as it bothers me. Love the dalmation too!

Bits don't belong on horses.
@rsoubiea
7 жыл бұрын
D in DC the bits are a necessity when they are pulling the wagon. this is how the drivers control these big guys and that wagon could easily become a weapon hurting spectators, the drivers and the horses. the wagon weighs 12 tons and handling the team requires quite a bit of strength and skill. The 40 pounds of reins the driver holds, plus the tension of the reins, equals 75 pounds. the bits are in during the performance only.
@D_in_DC

Ok...would you agree that, in general, horses can be controlled without the use of bits?
@fionajane56

Bits are just like a steering wheel on a car...anyone who thinks that bits are not for horses has no understanding of horses and their uses. These horses are super well cared for and if they were being hurt they wouldn’t behave or act as well mannered as they are.
@manaftergodsown777

The bit is always used and always has been. It does aid in controlling them. These magnificent horses are treated very well and you can tell by how well they behave. They are always around people except when being transported even as they are growing up.
