That place is one of the most awesome museums I’ve ever been in. Thanks for the second look. Massive gun collection is a real understatement, lol. And the animal taxidermy is world class. Ed: It definitely took me two days to explore it all.

Cody is a very impressive city, for only a population of 10,000. They've really expanded that museum from what they had when I last visited a few decades ago. They must have some wealthy benefactors to sustain a museum like that. If you want to see the most outstanding scenic highway in the country, take the Beartooth Scenic Highway (US 212) from Red Lodge MT through the Wyoming mountains to Yellowstone via Cooke City. They had a big flood there in July of 2022 that closed the road for a while so Google doesn't cover it yet, but it's open again now. Thanks for updating me on this area.

Cool show. This was my first watch and I’ll be looking at all you have I wonder if you or someone could shed some light on a question regarding a RV vacation. I have never owned one but at 60 I better do it now if I’m gonna but I can’t seem to grasp how much planning or how difficult is it to find a place to park the RV each night ? I’m sure internet easily tells you where all the locations are but wonder if out west one can park anywhere else for the night ?

Wife and I took our two kids thru Yellowstone and into Cody, They loved Cody. This was 25 years ago and fewer tourist amenities. We stayed in a 50s drive in motel. Was swimming with the kids in the little pool when a huge thunderstorm roared thru. Grabbed the kids and ouch running across the crushed rock parking lot kids in my arms was hilarious. Kids loved the 4th of July rodeo so much they wanted to return the next night and the ticket lady remembered us and gave us front row seats. The parade was great with clowns walking the route tossing candy. Are at a dive diner with real cowboys. Kids loved the museum. Perhaps research a bit the area or town you visit or cruise through. The Hotel Irma you passed had real colorful history. It’s a beautiful drive going into the east entrance. Enjoy.

I agree. I was in Cody a day ago and it is a very likable town. Just enough old and new . Yes,the Buffalo Bill Western Center is one of the most impressive museums that I've ever seen. For $19.75 a person do you get four very well presented museums. You will need at least two days to get through it all and fortunately that is what you get. Two days on one ticket. Don't miss it. Also, the Irma Hotel in the old part of Cody was Buffalo Bill's own hotel and by the looks of it still springs a good meal since it was packed.

You revived an old memory from Cody ,Wyoming. After you left the museum, I saw some land marks on the right that I remembered from fifty years ago. There was a place we stopped for breakfast on the right, before heading to Yellowstone. My father drove the 64 Dodge Van, pulling a small pop up camper! We went a different route, taking US 20 from Casper, through Shoshoni,Thermopolis and Cody. I remember staying in a campground in Shoshoni in August 1970. Met some very interesting people along the way!

This video popped up on my KZitem feed for some reason. Before I read the title I thought "hey, that looks like the museum"... I live in Cody (well, about 7 miles from town). It is a glorious place to live and raise a family (we have 4 kids at home). We usually get to visit the museum for free once or twice a year. They hold a few free days, including one around Christmas time. Cody is so full of History! So many things to do and see, many of these aren't even advertised as "tourist attractions". Cody is definitely The West! Not too shabby being close to Yellowstone, either ;).
