Very well said sir! And therein lies the problem with the society in which we live now. Good old justice (as in the wild west) is unfortunately a thing of the past. The death penalty should be simply that. Death. Not 20yrs of sitting, waiting, and appealing the sentence. And if found guilty of a crime like this, it should be an automatic death sentence. Yes, THIS 'single soul' wants to pay for this guy to breathe. You want an explanation? Here's a GOOD one. Thou shalt not kill. That is God's commandment. The word 'kill' when traced back to the ancient Hebrew means 'murder.' Murder is murder whether it's being committed by an 18 year old who most likely suffers from some kind of mental or cognitive illness or whether it's government sanctioned. Why do you think the United States is the only first world country that still has the death penalty? The way our justice system works is that it supposed to punish the crime and not the person. It's based on English Common Law and foundation of English Common Law is that divine law is the highest authority. What makes you think we are so right and all those other countries are wrong with their abolition of the death penalty? I'm going to answer that question. Hate. We have become such a hateful society. This young man claims he did what he did out of hate. Is not wanting him to get the death penalty ALSO an act of hate? Granted, if it was just hate on his part OR mental illness, he must be kept apart from society. But that means prison or commitment to a mental hospital until he is no longer a danger to society.

@@MadMagyar13 Well, that will never happen because that's not the way God works and it's not His job. That's OUR job as a society. If you look at these situations, in just about all of them, there were signs way beforehand. And they went ignored. Look at Cruz in Florida. The school recognized a problem but expelled him rather than get him the help he so desperately needed. Even his own mother before she died knew he was mentally ill and was diagnosed as such when he was a child and she said he would never be able to live on his own. So your us of the word 'lunatic' is quite correct. But the way 21st century American society works is that people shy away and/or ignore them and the signs rather than try to help. Or they are ostracized. A prominent psychologist I know says that is because of fear. Yet, you expect GOD to step in and do something? God ALSO says the we are supposed to be our brothers keeper.
