I've got a Bugera 1990 that I just plugged in for the first time in 10 years. When I was a kid I remember being frustrated it wouldn't make a 'metal' enough sound, but with some help from your videos I was able to get a super punchy lead tone, reminiscent of marshall JCM (for obvious reasons). It's not a 6505 but looking back I'm actually really glad I bought it.

I really think it is kind of eye opening that Bugera is able to bring to market a real hand-wired amp with all the goodies for this price point. I am buying one simply because if it doesn't really catch on, we may never see this kind of amp at this price point again. Kind of makes one wonder why a Mesa or Blackstar is so much more. If I am playing and it sounds good, I don't care it was built in the West or the Far East. Maybe some of the brand names I mentioned would sell more if their price point was more in line with what a working musician or hobbyist can afford.

just played one recently through a mesa DR cab, and to me it sounds much better than the actual Mesa Rectifier. but even the one in the store had some weird ticks. for example, the varipower control needed like 5 minutes of playing time before it did anything, even when the amp was just in standby before and the tubes were warm already, and it took extremely long for the tubes to warm up (flicked it out of standby after 3-4 minutes warmup, and it made no sound. 2 mins after that it worked. my engl blackmore is up and running in a minute of warmup without causing damage to the tubes, the last set of power tubes lastet 3 years without fault before i changed them) i think bugera should make the amps cost like 200 bucks more, but spend that money on some better components, because sound wise it's one of the better amps i've played. tighter than a mesa DR, very nice shimmering top end, and very good dynamic response. that said, i've never come across a 333 or 6262 that had these weird issues. might be something with the trirec in particular. anyways, great sounding amp, but be cautious, and check if the one you're planning to buy does these weird things too.

+givemeajackson It does sound "slightly" better than a raw Dual Rectifier, but once you put an OD808 etc.. to boost the Recto the Trirec can't quite hold up tone-wise. I'd say that the unboosted Mesa is around Equal in overall tone to the Trirec, but with a boost the Mesa is at least 5-10% better sounding than the Trirec w/ boost. I'm kinda missing my old Dual Rec I sold, I like my ENGL Ironball but it just doesn't have the oomph of like the Fireball I was hoping it would have :(

Bugera is good my dude, I have played a LOT with Bugera's 6262 and Peavey 6505. First one's got much more nuance, feel and punch in the tone as you set the drive knob up. Peavey's distortion straight 'good and heavy' but lacking range of dinamics overall. Really frustrates me because the 6262's is a straight COPY from Peavey, but with easily notable broader SOUND AND TONE with cheaper and fragile components (really). Stop with those 'Broke bar bands' talk because you think you are rich.

***** I know it what the Infinium system fixed wasn't the only problem, but it was the one that occurred to most people. I'm pretty sure it was the main problem that a lot of people had - something in the tube system overheated and made a switch or something malfunction, so they fixed the main problem with the new system. The other problems are just general production quality problems that they appear to have stepped up their game on as well.

There were QA issues with several models in the initial run of Bugera's. They seem to be corrected the in the infinium series. I Did 2-3 gigs a month with the Trirec infinium for a little over a year and had no problems. For that initial run, it did a lot of damage to Bugera's rep, though.

Just bought a Trirec infinium and put a set of JJ6L6GC's in it and it's a fkn monster. insanely clear and broad clears/ nasty metal tones. It is a beast of an amp and the only people that should talk are those that own or want to own one. Anyone else is just assuming they know shit about shit which is really just taking up space in the comment section. I've owned Marshalls, Vetta HD, Mesa Dual rec and many others. My Bugera 333xl is about a year old and no issues. I don't normally play it for more than 2 hours or at concert levels. Keep in mind I only have Bugera heads. On combos, heat is more of a problem than on the heads. I don't know if you can really trust the shops. I just know people tend to fall into 2 camps : people who have got a bugera and it died. And people who never had an issue with it. I fall into the second category but I am very gentle with my stuff, don't play out, etc.

Use your ears not brand name and price tags. Copy? Yeah. So what. Most amps are based on old Fender designs. The rest of the electronics is filtering and special circuits to allow for tweaks. Some designs alter electronics for tone stacks, etc... Yes, some amps are made with higher quality parts, and that can affect the over all tone. But, lower cost doesn't mean it's always crap tone. In fact, if you use your ears instead of other NON tone factors, then you buy what sounds good to you AND fits your budget. I'd never insult a Mesa buyer, or Bogner, Engl, or any high priced and high quality amp buyer, just as I wouldn't insult a buyer who bought an amp because it has had great tone AND it costs less. Just because you pay more doesn't mean you'll play better. Your "tone" may be good, but if you're playing sucks, then no amount of money on an amp will fix that. Spend more time playing and less dogging low cost amps that scare you because they do sound very good, and somehow you feel threatened cause you paid a lot more. :)

I have a 6260 2x12 pre-Infinium Combo I bought from Musician's Friend as an "open box" for $250 back in 2015. It must have gotten returned because the gain pots were scratchy beyond usefulness but I liked the tone so I took it to my tech Todd Wolfgram at Dave's Guitar Shop and all it needed was a fresh #1 pre-amp tube. Bill was $50 and now that baby is right as rain. And it's loud. The new Bugera amps have all the bugs worked out now. Europe's #1 selling amp brand so I hear. Grab one! Hell. Grab 2.

Apparently the Maxon OD808 is not widely used for added gain in metal..but the voicing of the pedal along with the volume and tone actually gives it a more tighter sound, added crisp in the crunch and more pick definition..This is when the pedal is used before ur amp or distortion pedal..Ive tried it and honestly its become a must..The Killswitch and Amon Amarth dudes use it as well as explained in some of their videos

I've been a user of trirec for almost 2 years. The tube was broken in the month 6th of usage. Suddenly went dead on stage, only power light lit up without the standby light. Replace it with 4 JJ's 6L6 and it is as good as new until now. What do u expect from a cheap tube anyway? The absolute advantage of trirec is the FX loop feature. It's not always on/off like other amps, but it has a channel switch. The loop can be control for only on for a specific channel based on footswitch. The downside is, it's a cheap head compared to the dual recti counterpart. Of course they use different grade of parts and tubes. The original tubes are crappy. Also, when i replace the tubes, my friend put it on head to head comparison between trirec and a dual rect. Basically sounds typical, minor differences here and there. But bugera's sound start degrading after hours powered on, and the mesa is not. But what the heck, i guess i dont care. I only play for a 40 -60 mins gig. Im satisfied with a less than a $1000 amp. Still considering of buying 4 EL34 though, to mix and match with the 6L6

Michael Davies the older models get really hot. the infiniums do not. The trirec IS an infinium model and always has been, so you are absolutely correct. This guy is either trying to sell horseshit or he has defective infinium circuitry.

Triple rec simply implies that ac is rectified into dc 3 (4 counting the diode rectification) times to supply the power tubes with different amounts of voltage. While the mesa may be the most popular and well known amp that does this, it does not mean that any other amp that does it is not in fact the real thing.

i have the 333xl head and i run it through a blackheart cab that i gutted and put vintage 30's and 75's in an x pattern in there. Sounds pretty much as good as any rig going.

This thing is packed full of features. That varipower is a smart addition because lets face it, you can't always rock out a 100 watt head and a 4x12 set to 11 when you have neighbours :) Thanks for yet another awesome video Ola.

I bought the Bugera 333 for $250 brand new from Musicians Friend.... I have either owned or played many of the best amps ever made... if you don't have the money to buy a $2,000 amp buy a Bugera.. they have absolutely gorgeous heavy metal tone and I love mine!!

It's only a better choice if you're dead set on a brand new purchase. I'd argue that one could get great tone from a used amp from the brands I listed earlier for much less. That buys you breathing room for pup, speaker, cab, and other equipment upgrades - all of which contribute to one's unique tone. If money were no issue, then by all means folks should drop the coin on a sweet amp such as the DV Mark - though I'd personally snag a Morgan 30/800.

Have one also. It has a quality that can’t be captured with vids like these. Gotta try it in person. Best to try the trirec before you purchasing a high priced name brand. Can do any style you wish, not just for high gain.

honestly I find that Bugera amps sound pretty good and close to the original things...but I still remain skeptic about durability...and I think they are very hard to re-sell one day. But if I'd have a Bugera in a reharsal room or at a gig by the backline I would use them without any problem.

what most people dont know is that you can use a joe satriani vox saturator pedal througha p.a. and it sounds just like a tube amp, i suggest using active pickups and rolling back the volume on ur guitar to about 4 or 5, best metal tone ever

For that kind of cash you could snag up a used peavey ultra 112 or even a 40 watt peavey xxx which are flexible enough to do bedroom level and gig level. The Ultra's are starting to go up in price though, so hop on it quick if you find that you like it, people rediscovered how badass they are.

OK! :) I'm a power guy playing for fun and with passion for that genre so maybe I've leaned to that side in my comment, my bad. I absolutely agree with you. My point was that everybody under ground whants to be seen, not to make money. Profit is a welcome but not mandatory side effect.

It's probably the stock tubes Bugera amps ship with cheap Chinese made tubes in them, they sound fantastic after a re tubing though. I sold my 6262 after I got my Engl Blackmore but it was still a great amp for the money.

That's why I mentioned the issue were with the first amps they released. They are now a competition to any major brand. I don't know what to think of when you say these amps are made for "high school kids." What makes high school kids different from anybody? Also, I agree these amps are much better to those who are Why are you just assuming people buy these amps because they are priced cheaply and only "poor" people buy them? One last thing everyone has preferences some don't like Mesa or Peavey

I just started tracking guitars for our forthcoming album (doom metal...downtuned to A)...and yes, the main guitars will be recorded with a 6260...I even do not dare to say, this thing is about to aly my boutique-amp, but, well..I think, I sell that one and get me some backup- "Bug's" instead...

I dunno guys, I know this isn't the best sounding amp for death metal, progressive or thrash styles, but it sounds great for a Nasum-esq grind tone and for leads, and probably it therefore makes for a decent black-metal tone.

I'm not sure what was wrong with the Triple Rectifier you tried, but mine was the best amp in the shop when I bought it back in 2007, and still kills. I tried out several Marshalls, Peaveys, Blackstars, and Engls.

i was just saying that while i was reading your comment that this amp sounds better than the original mesa boogie rectifier. My opinion is based though what i've listened here on youtube. Bugera makes pretty nice amps for it's price!

awesome. got mine brand new and tubes were cheap and broke like the first week I put some jj tubes in it and it crushes with no problems at all now... I will say the the foot switch could be a bit more resposive. other than that functions on the amp seem great!

Thats my point. I never said they were bad they're decent for the price but they're no where near a Mesa or an Engl. And an Axe Fx sound best through a tube power amp which even used are'nt cheap. But people get on here and say the're par with these high end amps and they're just not. They buy them because of the price.
@PippPriss

Its about what you can get out of the amp. listen to Ola's video featuring a Peavey Vypir Modelling amp and say once more you could directly make up the difference between 150 $ and 1500 $. The musician who uses it is the point, not the amp itself.

I'm really glad that you also test stuff that aren't in the high range end :) You should definedly do a video of Lone Wolf Audio's Left Hand Wrath. There is only 1 demovideo of it, and that guy apparently doesn't have a single clue of old school swedish death metal... :(
