The bms connections already has metal pads soldered on it so you can spot weld the nickel tabs directly on the board, otherwise, nice build! 😊

Recently, I have had to refurbish a battery pack and the BMS had the same pads and it was a pain to remove the welded nickel from them, so I have de-soldered these small pads from the PCB and soldered the new nickel strips directly. In the future when the batteries will die, I can still re-solder the BMS easily.
@quandiy5164

@@bonafide9085 same here. I just desolder it rather than ripping the tabs. For new ones, if I don't plan to weld onto the bms pads, I desolder them and keep them for another project, and then solder the nickel tabs to the pcb.

Great job. I like that you included that the "pro" guy liked the gas better.... Which does not take anything away from your project.... That actually looked like a bigger gas motor and cutting blade.... He probably likes it because it's faster.... But who knows..... That could be an interesting project.... Get a bigger gas one, and electrify it.... I got a Makita electric leaf blower a few months ago....... For what I do, I really like it. Blow out my garage, blow out my front sidewalk entry-way area... Works really good, and I don't have to mess around with gas & oil like my gas one.... I have the batteries, because I have a bunch of Makita tools.... I like it.

Hi, I would like to ask you for some information. I made a 13s 6p with the bms that you see in your video. The batteries are all new. I tried the battery in the electric motor and it works. It works slowly but it works. It was just for testing. Then I connected the battery to the Liitokala 54v 2 ah charger and it does not charge it. The question is: can it be the charger or the bms? I currently have: a 48v lifepo4 connected to the solar inverter and a 48v charger. To charge the battery, can I connect the lead charger, or connect it to the lifepo4 to charge it? Thank you

Here are the tips for make 13S battery 1. Make sure that all battery cells are good (High drain battery cell) 2. After connect all battery cells together, check the voltage between B0 and B13, it should be between 48V ~ 54V 3. Install BMS to the battery pack, thank check the voltage on the BMS, It will be good if the voltage same 4. You should charge this battery pack with Li-ion charger 54.6V. I hope this will help you.

SLA printers can print accurately to 22 micron now (Phrozen 8K Mini) and the Elegoo ABS resin is very rough. at 18000mayh, I think it's time you use Ah instead, then it's 18 and it makes a lot more cents. That's why we don't say I spent 1,000,000,000 cents on a used car. Small numbers are easier. It's kind of like building a spot welder that needs a separate button instead of using a momentary in the welding head so you don't have to synchronise your hand holding the spot welder with the button in your other hand. That wouldn't be very efficient!

It could be that it would be cheaper, easier and faster to make a 48V battery from 16 pcs of 20Ah C40 cells, with the screws on the ends ready. In addition, Ah would be 20 instead of 18. Another advantage of such a battery is that the cells can be easily removed for another use if necessary, when they are not welded in a plastic frame. In addition, the power supply capacity can be of a completely different class.

If you are going to solder the nickel strip to the BMS, instead of spot welding them like Quan Diy proposed, do it in reverse order. First solder the strips, then spot weld the batteries. If you do it the way you do it currently, the temperature from the soldering will transfer to the nickel strip and onto the nearest cells, this way you are exposing them to temperature stress, which might lead to explosive results down the line. Lithium* cells are no joke, and people should treat them as volatile explosive material at all times.
@vbp6159
2 жыл бұрын
what about the current going from the spotwelder to the BMS?
@IlfStoyanov
2 жыл бұрын
@@vbp6159 good point, although it's not a closed loop, and it shouldn't damage anything. If you wanna be completely safe, spot weld all the nickel strips then solder the strip for the BMS while using some thermal relief in the path to the batteries. Could be big piece of copper, temporarily attached to the strips to act as a heatsink, or if you are paranoid enough, you could mill a water-cooled heatsink - over-engineered is always better than under-engineered. Again, though, having in mind you are spot-welding to a single point on the pcb, without closing any loops, you should be safe. Most BMSes come with those strips pre-soldered, just so you don't solder the ends and expose the batteries to thermal shock. If you wanna be absolutely safe, design the BMS yourself, and leave the pads disconnected, spot-weld, then use a jumper - similar to the way some PSUs are designed - with big traces and added extra wires beneath big blobs of solder.
