Can you cover the 3 Fs of Survival next?

Are you talking about the Fight, Flight or Freeze? I actually prefer OODA Loop, Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. That is something that I can probably discuss in an upcoming video but the current plans are to go out and show how to use various types of gear that I have in my pack. I really appreciate you watching and suggesting a video idea.

@@KYPrepper5 yes, I'm familiar with OODA, I bought Survival Ready a book by Freedman & Jensen and if you ever run out of ideas; check that book out. Its a comprehensive look at urban/wilderness survival, active shooting, natural disasters, civil unrest, kidnapping, and travel dangers. Thanks for the awesome content.

Yeah, I do not like to talk about personal protection, but it is a thing. I have a Winchester 30/30. A Cap and Ball .45 revolver, a .22 caliber revolver and several very large nasty looking knives. Oh, and I have a 20 gauge shotgun. It is getting strange out there. I just got the Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener, a very useful tool, that does not need oil.

As a licensed Ham Radio operator, who got his license back in 2016. My first Radio was a Baofeng UV-5RV2+. Just an upgraded version of the UV-5R. Yes it has a pretty good FM radio and you can program it to listen to NAOH, but its range on simplex, or radio to radio, is limited to maybe 3 to 5 miles, depending on terrain, and Line of Sight, or LOS of the person your trying to contact. Also as a scanner, its pretty much useless, since most Law Enforcement, and Fire Departments, now uses a Digital System, that is password protected and often scrambled. I hate to say it, but your putting way to much stuff you don't need into your kit. That fishing and trapping kit. I would never use, because if I'm trying to get from point A to safe point B. I'm not going to stop. I would rather carry more food. I was happy to see you showed a better water filter. As for Freeze Dried meals, they take water, and where I live, water can be hard to come by. Lots of places west of the Missouri river are much drier climate. So I pack MRE's, and yes I test them to see how they taste. You can eat them cold, or heat them up. In a pinch they are not bad cold, and will keep you going. Also I wont stop to build a fire, I use a Trangia burner under a folding grate. Quick and easy and will burn Denatured Alcohol, that you can get at most box stores and home centers. You need to think small and fast. Which is why I've narrowed it down to 7 C's. But you do a pretty good video, non the less.

Thank you and you make some valid points. Radio is mor for group communication if absolutely necessary and still works as a scanner for my current location which could change at any time. Why I recommend people do what works for them and to get out and use their gear. My pack has changed a lot from doing that and taking survival classes. I really appreciate you watching and commenting!

@@KYPrepper5 I hate to be a stick in the mud. But you might go to GMRS Radio's. A one time fee, no test, and you will be completely legal. Yes I know you can use that Baofeng in an emergency, but do you know how? It took me a few months, with help, on how to program mine. I'm just saying.

@@longrider42not a problem and I appreciate the suggestions, however I am very familiar with the UV5R and a lot of other radios as I have been a General Class Armature radio operator since 2010 and they are not my only means of communication.

@@KYPrepper5 Nice, sorry, but so many people believe the Baofeng's are nothing but toys and no license is needed ;) I will be getting my General license, hopefully this year. Take care.

What’s your opinion on using bank line for snare wire and fishing line?
@KYPrepper5
5 ай бұрын
Works great for bush hooks and is why I include some of the smaller line in my little fishing kits. While it would work as a snare it is difficult to get the loop right and could be chewed through much easier and is why I like the 1/16 inch stainless steel cable as my first choice and 22 gauge wire for my second. Great question and I really appreciate you watching and commenting!
