What do you think of some of the editing changes compared with previous videos?

Your editing looks solid to me! I know I'm clearly in no position to judge or critique anyone's production values, given my penchant for chopping up my single-shot rambling screeds into barely-coherent strings-of-consciousness with the same four fair-use songs laid over it all!

I think this Bug came out very nicely - I've been known to do some of the same things you have done in terms of the chrome trim etc., but to me a Sharpie works better than a thin brush sometimes although with my results you really cannot tell the difference. This looks like a well detailed and relatively easy kit to build as well, and one of my teachers had a 1972 Beetle in a color similar to this.

Excellent. Please put up more captions for newbs like me ... what sanding sponge, what grit, when was it wet sanded, how long between coats, how do you afix parts to that cork, etc. I don't have a spray gun yet so your details on paint/thinner ratios will come in handy some day (soon?). Thanks. The build is beautiful.
@scaleffect
2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions: -I used Infini sanding sponges for the body prep. 400 grit for the mold lines, then 1000 over the whole body. -Because I use lacquer paint, not long between coats because it dries fairly quick. Maybe 5-10min, 15min max if I'm laying it on very heavy. I usually wait a day between color and clear but there's no science to that, I usually don't want to paint for that long to do color and clear all in one go. I try to wait a minimum of 5 days after final clear before wet sanding though to let the paint fully cure and harden. -Wet sanding is done with Godhand sponges. Typically 6000, then 8000, then 10,000. On the areas with the runs though I used 4000 to start to knock it down faster, very carefully though. -The wine bottle corks used as holders have poster tac on them. Gorilla brand works well for me and doesn't get stringy when removing it. I pretty much copy what I see from other builders because I am still learning myself. If you look through the comments here you will see several channels with probably a combined century of experience in this hobby who have wayyy better skills than I ever will. I highly suggest clicking on their channels and watching their videos and tutorials, you will learn more from one of their videos than you'd learn from a lifetime of watching mine! I'm lucky to have their support.

@@BillyStrangeAutoModels Definitely recommend going with a hobby grade compressor, anything more industrial will be deafening. Having a tank is nice so it doesn't run non-stop. Obviously, you need an airbrush. And then a booth to spray into, ideally with an extraction fan. Mine is one of those chinese made booths and I stick the exhaust out the window. Other than that, thinner and paint!

Hey. Instead of painting brush clear parts use mr color 047 and thin it with mr rapid thinner and then you can easily airbrushing clear parts. Rapid thinner solves the problem with stickness because clear parts are not primed.

I would just add some white carpet and would do pre or post shading on the interior panels. Just some light pre/post shading. What you could do to add more depth is to use some cyan acryl glue for fake glass effect on the speedometer. Non, the less it is an amazing model. I built the same model but not so good.

@@PpaStrmpf thanks for the feedback. The speedometer does have a drop of Tamiya X-22 on it for the glass, but my hand was in the way filming it so I didn't cut it into the video. Tough to film these little parts and not mess up the shots lol
