One of the things I love about traditional and primitive bow hunting is the depth of the stories; the level of connection we have with the bow and arrows we make and the animals we hunt. This is the story of a bow, my primitive hunting bow that I've carried all over the country on bow hunting adventures from the mountains of Idaho to the swamps of Florida. I've bow hunted wild hogs, whitetail deer, elk, and all kinds of small game with this little takedown sinew backed osage recurve.
It started out as a couple of billets I got from a friend many years ago. I joined those billets to form a two piece takedown selfbow. After it killed it's first elk, a bull, I used that bull elk's back sinew to back the bow. Later, I'd use that same recurve bow to kill a cow while standing in the exact same footprints as the year before.
