I'm only on my 3rd grow and I made a few seeds for the fun of it. Popped 4, ..got 3 females and 1 male. The male grew like a Giant NBA player and I got attached 😂 EVEN THE SEEDS WERE BIGGER THAN IV EVER SEEN. Too bad I didn't pollinate more branches.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BuildASoil! 🌱🐈

I think its funny, about 10 years ago when I was looking for seeds, regular seeds were cheaper than feminized seeds. Now, it seems like regular seeds are VERY hard to find or VERY expensive. The seed companies seem to understand that if we learn to breed, we don't need them lol, thats a shame. I prefer regular, opportunities to breed some awesome, original bud.

I look at making your own seeds as part of the sustainability process, just like maintaining a living soil. The more you can sustain your own grow the less dependent you are on others and the more money you can save, and that is the type of freedom I'm always looking for. Big thanks to Dave a.k.a. (A.W.K.I.D.) for helping to make this video possible. What I'm looking forward to is Jeremy popping a few of these seeds for the first time on video so we can all see what he can get out of it, ultimately that's what it's all about.

I started gathering pollen late 60s and 70s from seeds from Vietnam, and Thailand. At that time very exciting producing killer seeds. And killer reefer when everybody else is smoking dirt weed from Mexico. At that time I was living in northern New Mexico. around 6500 feet in elevation in a 30x 30 greenhouse, my growing partner and I were way ahead of our time.

I use to make my own seeds but since a decade I stopped because of feminised who are very useful and there's so many genetics to try at fair prices plus the lack of space! The way Jeremy interacts with us through the camera shows his passion and dedication..how many others would refuse to make a video like this just because of the stigma associated with what "pollen chuckers" are doing to the industry event hough he specifies his intentions,won't be released for sale etc. I'd love to get some of those seeds though that's for sure
@Cryptlord9999

Its more so the "Pollen Chucking" Breeders or outdoor home growers that let their male plants go, that are the issue, not the average indoor grower making their own seed indoors. Its when people sell their pollen chucked seeds or just allow their outdoor males to drop pollen indiscriminately, where they are negatively impacting real breeders. If producing seee outdoor, its better to bring flowering males indoors, harvest pollen, and then pollinate outdoor plants individually with breathable mesh bags that dont allow the pollen to eacape. That way you dont potentially pollinate other peoples outdoor plants, especially important if there are outdoor breeders in your area.

As someone who goes full isolation and takes multiple steps to avoid cross pollination and have done so for a couple decades this was an interesting watch. Need a joint now, my anxiety is off the hook, lol Good luck for anyone making some seeds for themselves/friends. I'd recommend if at all possible, grow only one strain of male per pollination. Just a thought.

Good simple video overall, but when Jeremy has a guest on, it seems the guest never gets to talk. You had an episode with Robbie from Montana Grow as well, and I was so excited to hear what that man had to say, but instead Jeremy spoke almost the entire time and Robbie just nodded his head, same thing goes on here with Dave. Not trying to be mean here, just letting you know we love to see the guests perspective as well.

Question for everyone too! Sup Jeremy could write a whole paragraph but just wanna say how much I appreciate your commitment to this youtube channel and educating people on the buildasoil way! I had a question about smell, i’ve grown twice before at a friends before I knew about buildasoil with some mediocre seeds and needless to say there was some issues, but the smell never left the basement even at harvest time. I’m concerned that when i fill up a 4x4 in my basement with the buildasoil way that the smell is going to be too pungent and smell throughout the house, should i be worried?

I was really bummed... I ended up getting a male Skunk #1 so I crossed it with a Juicy Lucy I had going, I got soooo many seeds BUT I ended up losing them in a move. I really wish I was able to try all those seeds, I seeded them early in flower and they were really fat and ripe, would've been great plants. I was bummed at firsr about the male, then I realized "hey, free seeds!" I loved it, now I'm hooked.
@IntoTheFire777

Oh ya, the plants were in containers outdoors, all I did was put the male next to the female, made sure the male was upwind and just shook it to get the pollen to fly when it had a good amount of flowers (probably 2 weeks into flower for both plants). I probably got about 80 seeds, good seeds, harvested close to when the females were ripe, seeds were buldging and ripe.

I pollinated a plant a few months ago. I did it the natural way but just putting a male photoperiod in a tent with a female autoflower that had just started to show flowers set to 12/12. Turns out I'm EXTREMELY allergic to cannabis pollen, it was awful. So I'd definitely recommend wearing a respirator when working with pollen especially if you get seasonal allergies!

Many breeders do this. Rasta Jeff had king Solomon. Masonic has Wilson(or Munson I forget). Duke Diamond talks about hitting the same male to multiple strains in the same run to test out the progeny and see what it passed on. And greenhouse (Arjan) says he ideally will keep the same mom and dad to keep the f1 progeny the same over and over again. But yeah. Good thought.
