This model appears to be a Huey C Model which was primarily used as a gunship as indicated by the mounting bracket for mini guns or whatever weapons system are going to be used, Gatlin, Rocket Pods or combination. Also all Hueys in Vietnam had Door Gunnners. Pilots and passengers would not survive without them.

It always bothers me when "C" models are depicted in the role of "slicks"; as you stated, they were developed to fill the gunship role, not as troop transports. They could barely get airborne at times, given the weight of the weapons and ammo they carried, along with Vietnam's hot/high conditions. Carrying troops as well would have been a struggle. I guess Academy's "C" version is the most readily available Huey model. The ancient Revell Huey really isn't too bad, though technically 1/32 scale. It just needs some decent troop seats and a set of XM-23 M-60s to make it presentable.

Very nice. I built the Revell 1/32 kit Huey, but I couldn’t find figures to put inside. Where did you get these?
