For a raycast windows alternative there's a few options: Powertoys and it's plethora of other neat features, like a screen split screen layout Flow launcher is a fork of the "Everything search" and brings other functionalities
@Nil-js4bf
Жыл бұрын
Powertoy's run feature doesn't even begin to compete with Raycast sicne the latter supports plugins which gives you the ability to open git repos, ci/cd builds, jira tickets, etc. I'm using Listary cause it has some nice features but without support for 3rd party plugins, it'll never compete on its ability to integrate with other apps.

Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with this "Building a Digital Productivity System for the New Year (2023)" video?! It's seriously the most mind-blowing, life-changing, and utterly incredible thing I've ever seen on KZitem. First off, the host is an absolute genius. They have managed to distill years of productivity wisdom and research into a clear, concise, and easy-to-follow system that will completely revolutionize the way you work and live. I mean, I thought I knew a thing or two about productivity, but after watching this video, I feel like a total beginner. The production value is also top-notch. The visuals are stunning, the sound quality is crystal-clear, and the editing is flawless. It's like watching a Hollywood blockbuster, but instead of explosions and car chases, you're getting life-changing advice that will help you achieve your dreams and goals. But what really sets this video apart is the content. The host doesn't just give you a few tips and tricks to be more productive - they walk you through an entire system that covers everything from goal-setting to time-management to mindset shifts. It's like having a personal productivity coach right there with you, guiding you every step of the way. And let me tell you, the results are nothing short of miraculous. Since implementing the system from this video, I've been able to get more done in a day than I used to in a week. My stress levels have plummeted, my creativity has soared, and I'm finally making progress on the projects that matter most to me. Overall, I cannot recommend this video enough. If you're ready to take your productivity to the next level and achieve the success you deserve in 2023, you simply must watch "Building a Digital Productivity System for the New Year." It's a game-changer in every sense of the word.

Great question! Web apps can offer better performance/use less resources if the computer app of the same service is just an electron version/wrapper. It's also good if you want to open multiple instances of the same app if that's not possible within the native app. I personally also like/find it a lot easier to customize web pages with custom css/arc boosts/ublock origin/userscripts when compared to modifying clients (which depending on the app can go against some companies' TOS too).

i get the love that arc gets i really do it's clean but I found vivaldi to be more utilitarian as it has a sidebar with web panels like opera. i wish arc had the ability to make certain pinned apps open as a floating sidebar rather than a whole tab or split screen. until then i cannot make the switch
@PhilipZJY
Жыл бұрын
I think that's an interesting use case, Arc definitely takes a different approach to organization. I think Vivaldi and Arc will end up staying different enough because the direction they're taking seems quite different. Have you tried playing around with easels in Arc though? You can do live webpage embeds so they can take up as little or as much room as you'd like - might be something worth exploring!

Hey gyiriiiii, I haven't seen any abnormal CPU usage over other chromium browsers I've used on my mac. Are you on an intel-based machine? Arc doesn't play well with Intel Macs, but performance hits can also be from extensions you have running in the background-try disabling your extensions to try to see if any of them might be the cause. Am i the only who finds raycast search much more terrible than spotlight and alfred. Raycast isn't able to get commands that are nested in other "racast apps". For example if i press cmd + space and do a spotlight search for a folder name it will suggest folders and files with that name. This doesn't happen in raycast without first specifying i want do i file search. This makes raycast such a worse experience for me, but i feel i am missing something since i haven't heard anybody complain about it.
@PhilipZJY
Жыл бұрын
You're definitely not alone! That's actually something that's been keeping me from fully committing to Raycast - been switching between Alfred and it for that reason. Raycast has a lot more extensions and community support, and conversions built in unlike Alfred. If you use a Raycast alias, such as 'f" followed by space, it works a little better than having to specify with a keyword each time, but there is still some friction over just pressing the spacebar in Alfred. I think Raycast is more modern and more suited for someone that wants integrations with different apps/good community support-and it is a free app (although security might be a slight concern due to the way it's currently built), but I prefer Alfred for workflows (which are unfortunately paid) and file searching. Hopefully both apps continue to improve!

@@PhilipZJY thanks a lot for the reply, appreciate it 😌 its a bummer raycast doesn't have that feature, would be amazing if it had it.
@eugen.eistrach
Жыл бұрын
@@christofferandersen1906 Yeah with raycast there is more nesting with the menus. For me its not an issue, have been getting used to it. But if you are using some specific commands more often you can assign a shortcut to that command. And raycast will open with that command already executed (eg. searching for files). So I have created multiple shortcuts to specific commands I'm using really often throughout the day. The way it works for me I have installed a small app called hyperkey. This app remaps my tab key to "CMD + SHIFT + OPT + CTRL" (called hyperkey). The reason for using such key is it makes it easier to not collide with any other shortcuts in other apps and I was not using tab anyway. So now I'm pressing "Tab + F" to open file search through raycast directly. And I mapped "Tab + T" to open a todo view where I can quickly capture a todo. Maybe this is useful to you too.
