I think that kitten just might like you, Anne. Too much cuteness for one video when he ran up your leg and just wanted to cuddle even though you were trying to do something. Plus, you know, the cuteness of the crafts-person herself. Love seeing someone enjoy their work so much that they smile right through it.

Great job Anne! A chair is one of the more challenging pieces of furniture to make. A good chair needs all the elements...good design, strong, comfortable. One important step that I was taught when using the mineral spirits, linseed oil, spar varnish mixture was to make sure you raise the grain of the wood with water and a wet cloth/rag first, let dry, and then knock down the raised grain with finish sanding before the first coat of finish. Also important is to use 400 grit wet dry sand paper with every coat. It helps continue to knock down any grain raising with each coat as well as fill grain. The same sand paper can do multiple coats.
@AnneofAllTrades
5 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's correct. I don't usually use wet dry sandpaper because it's more expensive and it still gets gummed up, but that's the same general idea I use for finishing as well.

Anne, this video is just great, you are hitting on my love of chairs and showing all the complexities that go into them and how much room there is for personal interpretation in the design.
