Yet another beautiful piece! I’m always surprised how warm that stain ends up being. BTW, was that your dog?
@CasualBuilds

Thanks! Yeah, the stain always lightens up a bit when you use the pre-stain conditioner mixed with an oil-based poly. And yes, it was!

Great video and perfect timing as I was thinking of trying to make one. One question I had is why you chose 1 X 4 rather than something a bit wider? Just curious. Looks great.
@CasualBuilds
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Honestly chose 1x4s because I had a bunch of them already on hand from a previous project. Would definitely recommend something wider though.

Very well done video, thank you. One question I have on ottoman trays, yours and others I’ve seen - what about wood movement on the inside component over time? As it expands and/or contracts throughout the seasons won’t there be an issue with potential cracking or bowing? I need to make some and am very interested in your thoughts. Once again, thank you so much for your time and effort in putting out such great content. Be well, God Bless.

This was a major concern of mine while making this. That's why I placed the bottom part in a frame. I only used a few screws. I don't think it's big enough for wood movement to effect it.

Got to love it when you think you have the measurements right or the proper placement of the parts only to find out after cutting or drilling you actually didn't. 🤔

It's not so bad when you mistakenly cut it too big though!
