Hey, good project, i want to install a wind turbine in my garden. I am considering the tesup Hera pro, but still looking. Any advice? Also how much the mounting tower cost you? I will need a 2.5 to 3 metres high. How much will cost to build it for me and delivered to Ireland? Just asking.thank you

I would budget at least what you spend on the turbine for mounting. My tower cost about £2200 all in. So far I’ve not had any real energy out of it and it’s 8m tall to the base of my turbine. Ideally you should go 10+m to get decent wind.

Damn, you could’ve learned a lot by watching my videos. I fabricated the base plate and the tilt plate myself. That was out of 1/2 inch steel which I sort of regret not going with 1 inch steel plate.

I have the atlas 4.0 just installed. The grub screws holding the sail assembly to the main drive shaft continue to come loose and will not hold. This ends up with the sail assembly spinning in the shaft without driving the turbine. Have you experienced this issue? TIA

Yes, it took quite a bit of adjustment to get it fitting right and even then I was never 100% happy with it. I would have preferred a bolt all the way through the motor spindle and the sail shaft locking them together.

Excited to see the turbine in action. New subscriber, looking forward to the updates.

Really excited to see the tower go up! I have been planning something similar but seeing this is taking the inspiration further. Would love to see the output charts

Me too! However typically since it’s been up we have had almost no wind at all!!! Lol 😂 As soon as we get some wind I will be uploading initial thoughts and data! Not much I can do with no wind though!

Great work but still a waste of time and resources. That Tesup will break down before you break even.

Can't wait for the next video(s). I have some questions for you please... - does the truss tower is give a really solid immovable tower or is there some play? - might you consider going higher, and if so, again, do you think the truss tower could cope? - what do you think the maximum truss tower height could be without guy ropes or cables? - are you feeling confident about the output from the Atlas? - when's the next video?!?!??!

Thank you, so to answer your questions in order: 1, yes it is very solid, I can kick it, push it and jump on it without any movement. 2, yes, I can go another 1.5m without planning permission, after that it gets more complicated 3, I would not put this kind of tower up without guy lines. It does need them. 5m max height without them & no mass on the top. 4, I have seen output from it but the wind hasn’t been enough to get it really going yet. I think it should work well, but if not I will be working out how to make it work well! 5, as soon as the wind blows enough for me to get some useful data! I don’t like to speculate, I need numbers :) typically it’s been super calm the last 2-3 weeks!

Really interesting. Any planning issues with the council for this?

Luckily I have permitted development rights as it’s behind the house and it’s considered a temporary structure as I can remove it in 15 minutes. Also it’s less than it’s height + 1m from the boundaries too.

Great update, where was best place you found to get the truss and fittings?

I purchased some from a local supplier in Fleet, hampshire and also from a german supplier: www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_3punkttraverse_4080_f33_globaltruss.htm

Generator mounting plate, you could have just installed stainless steel hex head bolts from the bottom that would keep the generator off of the top plate. Then put four stainless spacers at the mounting points on the generator itself to your top plate, to keep the bearing off the base of the top plate

Thats a nice solution. :)

Every small wind turbine is useless. They will never break even. Tesup has an even worse reputation, check all the other reviews on KZitem (not the sponsored ones) of people who actually own one.

tower is too close to the house

Comment has no info - why is it too close? Id be concerned about noise but can only comment on that based on hearing traditional small turbines.

Not sure if you were being cheap or not but that is not a brake winch, that’s not the correct winch to put on for lowering a tower or raising

It works, it’s on a ratchet system, so it only spools out one step at a time and stops if I let go. It’s good enough for now. I might swap to an electric winch if I’m feeling lazy though!
