Thank you! Definitely a learning experience. I'm glad it takes up so little room, but I would love to do an N-scale. Lots more accessories available for the larger trains it seems =)

Love the X Wing! I've always planned on having a crashed ufo with maybe an alien in some out of the way place on a model railroad layout. Someday it'll happen.

Sorry for the late reply! It was super fun and relaxing to make this. I would suggest a larger scale though. Z scale takes a lot of patience and it's hard to find accessories ;)

Styrofoam is a lightweight, cheap, and easy to work with. But sadly just like anything else in life nothing is perfect. It is also carcinogenic to humans and it doesn't break down in nature. So all of the scrap pieces and even the entire layout at the end of its life will really hurt our environment. For these two reasons I want to use something else, but I have no idea what is available. Do you maybe have an idea what I could use instead? I could work around a heavier solution and I also don't mind if it's a little bit more expensive. But having something that's easy to work with while not being too expensive would be nice :) Anyway, you've made a really good looking layout. It turned out really nice! Especially the mountain looks really nice :D

Sorry, unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions. I save the styrofoam every time a get a package with it - to use on projects like this. I can use them for this stuff, or fill the landfill with it I guess. Thanks for your comment and for watching my video!

My Understanding Z scale is Quite Spendy not only that it looks Quite challenging And technical as well.
@natureterp
3 жыл бұрын
Indeed! Not only difficult to find accessories (cars, buildings, animals, etc), but expensive and a long time for shipping (lots of stuff I found on eBay comes from China). And yes, technical, beyond my skill and patience to make Z scale accessories on my own. And I'm adjusting that track all the time to keep the train from de-railing. Mostly because I made the slope and added flexible track. It does save space though, hehe. That 4' x 2' train village sits between two windows in the living room =)
