That will not make a big enough difference, plus you don’t want a complete dead sounding room

@Meme loaf Rock wool would be insulation used. You can’t leave the panel open for many reasons, a fabric is needed to cover panel & insulation.

@Meme loaf yeah definitely. Anything marketed towards a specific consumer is up charged. While it may be a bit more effective. Cotton or any basic fabric should work fine.

melamine foam is good material for acoustic panel

No it's not. Not dense enough. Foam will only absorb high frequencies. You need something thicker to absorb

@@______6879 rock wool works great. Thicker the better. There are charts that show how much of each frequency sound energy is absorbed versus thickness. get as thick as you can afford

@@raztube90 yes. but you don't need "6 inches". it's a lot more complicated than that. even 2 inches is very useful, and much better than acoustic foam. obviously bigger is better, but that's never gonna make them bass traps anyway
@raztube90

@@amaurythewarrior obviously anything is better than foam but with 2 inch you are still getting most reflections coming back so it is not that effective
@amaurythewarrior

@@raztube90 i have to disagree. there are actual data, you get a good absorption coefficient up to the low mids - and you're forgetting the 1/4 wavelength thing, part of the benefit of thicker panels is that these are velocity based. but obviously for mixing... 4 or 6 inches are superior

Put on a mask and don't promote working with this material otherwise! Stuff like this should be reported IMO
