I have the cab height kb voodoo (or max modular now) on my Tacoma. Mine has held up pretty well.

Well done! Informative and put together in an entertaining way! At some point you should do a video detailing what you've done on the interior. I spy a big sky rifle rack!

Felix S Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Good eye! It’s the 2 gun Big Sky. I’ll put together a video of the interior soon!

About the drive line vibes , did the 3° shims help at all ? I also am dealing with the same problem

They didn’t solve my problem. I ended up adjusting the carrier bearing with washers until I found just the right drop to stop the vibrations. That worked best and has held up for 10,000 miles thus far.

Hey nicely done! Quick question, did you have to replace that bolts near the tailgate to properly mount the rack? What size would you recommend and where did you purchase them?

Hey Sean, the only reason I replaced the bolts where I mounted the rack by the tailgate was because the factory bolts sheared in half. I think they were weak from being in the elements. I went to Home Depot and brought in one of the old bolts and bought 4 of the same thread pattern stainless steel bolts to replace the old. It’s worked great since then.

Pine State Overland, thank you! I just bought one of the kb voodoo long bed racks for my short bed tacoma also. I just realized I wouldn’t be able to mount every attachment point to the bed rail. Gotta say I’m real glad I found your video. I saw some discussion on tacoma world and a guy on there was talking about having to drill holes and stuff... ugh I’d prefer not to do that!

Definitely no holes drilled here. I’m opposed to that idea too. I saw a couple posts on TW but nothing that really showed how it connected to a short bed. This has worked out very well. A buddy of mine helped me fab some custom brackets to help elevate the rack so I can use my tonneau cover with it. I’ll snap a few pics and put it on my Instagram (PSOverland). It uses the KB Voodoo tonneau cover brackets and some plates we made to extend it upward to help clear the tonneau cover. Had it been a short bed rack initially that wouldn’t have been necessary but since it’s a long bed rack where it ends by the tailgate didn’t initially allow the tonneau cover to pop open. I definitely wanted the tonneau cover to keep dust and water/snow out.

How is that rack holding up? I'm very skeptical about getting it. Does it hold up on rough terrain?

Hey Kenrick, the rack holds up great. I can stand on it and move around across the cross bars and the rack doesn’t flex or move at all. I raised it a little with some plates so I could run my tonneau cover on the truck as well. That didn’t seem to weaken it at all either. For something that looks thin and is extremely light weight, it sure is strong and sturdy.

Yes it is. Except when there’s feet of snow on the ground lol I’ll take Maine falls any day though.
