You know, I was thinking about this hobby again after 40 years. I found your channel a couple of years ago and you said to go out a build a model which I did and enjoyed it. But I started watching other builders who spent over 100 hours to complete. I tried, and I joined a couple of Facebook groups. I posted a kit and was told that I’m not a good fit for there group. I boxed up everything and put the bins in the shed. A couple days ago your channel popped up and I watched it for old time sake. Again I hears go build a model and have fun. So I did I’m building for myself and I’m enjoying it because I’m building for me and me only. Thank you Mr. QDC

Nice video Collin. Just a small tip: there are primary, secondary en tertiary colours. Instead of adding black or white to make the colour less bright or lighter, add the complementary colour. For green that would be red. Darker green has a orange red complementary colour and light green has a pink red complementary colour. Add in small amounts until you get the effect you’re looking for. Adding black will make the colour greyish and lose its hue, adding white will flatten the colour and make it lose its vibrancy. Primary and secondary: Yellow - purple Blue - orange Red - green Tertiary: Green yellow - violet red Red orange - blue green Violet blue - orange yellow. Just experiment a bit if you like, it might add a new dimension to your modeling skills. PS: when putting fuel stains on a round drum, the fuel will run down both sides, not just one side. Perhaps more on one side where the filling is done from, but still. It also tends to accumulate around the filling cap on to of the drum and run down from there. Looking forward to your next video!

Honest question here - would a more accurate translation to English be - "Death to the German Invader"? and - "Tiger Destroyer" or "Destroyer of Tigers"? In other words - are the words in Russian completely different or interchangeable in that context? Or would it matter given the context? Just wondering about the use of articles in Russian. Greetings and kind regards from the US.

Your models looks great. Love how your road wheels turned out. Meaning no disrespect ... The SU-85 was developed from the SU-122. The SU-122 was the Soviet response to encounters with the StuG. In April 1942 a request for a self propelled artillery vehicle was issued. This ended with the SU-122 was chosen and incorporated features from primarily two of those vehicles, the SG-122 and the U-34. The SU-122 went into production Jan 1943. By early 1943 better German vehicles were being fielded and the 76.2mm gun was losing its effectiveness, the Tiger I was encountered near Leningrad and reports were coming in of new better armed and armored vehicles like Panther and Ferdinand. In May 1943 a Su-122 was equipped with the newly developed 85mm anti tank gun and tested and production approved. The first batch of vehicles were built on converted SU-122 hulls. The SU-85 entered service August 1943. The vehicles were successful against lighter German vehicles but not against the vehicles they were intended to counter, primarily the Tigers. Panthers, and Ferdinands. The SU-85M's were built early 1944 with the SU-100 commanders cupola and thicker front hull armor and the SU-100 style ball gun mantlet. The SU-85/85M's were rendered obsolete with the arrival of the T-34/85 in December 1943/Jan 1944. SU-100 production was approved Sept 1944 and the type entered service October 1944. The SU-100 was basically a SU-85M equipped with a 100mm D-10 gun.

I did that on purpose. The right sag is perfect for operation but the left one is too loose.
