This is by far the nicest looking side bending jig I've ever seen. Outstanding work! Such a shame people who buy your guitars don't get to see it.

Thanks man! Sometimes I enjoy making the jigs more than making the guitars.

Love the jig, nice job... the only thing that I change is, insted fixed bracket dowels, I allow them to roll and avoid them to cause any friction and the action of bending is more easy. 👏👏👏👏

Now what about steaming your wood and then bending it into shape?
@homebuiltshop
Жыл бұрын
You could steam it and bend it to your form. That would be just one way to do it.

While I don't have a specific tutorial at this time, I used several different plans for similar jigs that I found online as reference. I also have the digital plan for my acoustic guitars that I imported into Fusion 360. I used my plan for some of the sizes, combined with the other plans to create my own parts.

Would you share your designs? I have been playing with cnc work after I got me a Genmitsu 4040 Pro late last year. Also l, wanted to start building guitars once again for my grand daughter and daughter. I have only built one and a half plus a uke so far, but need to make these jigs, especially a side bender, to make things easier. I do have Fusion 360 and Carveco for design work on the cnc.

Hey pal. I would love to see a little more in-depth on the blanket, and power source for it. I have been looking for blankets online and some don’t even have a plug of any kind on the pig tails. Trying to get a setup that doesn’t break the bank. Thanks!

Hello Friend, I have watched a few of your videos, especially guitar-building videos and you make it all look so easy and we know it's not. So my question is easily answered do you have plans for the side bender machine and if so are they for sale??

Thank you very much for this. Please can I ask, what are the specs on your heat blanket and thickness of the spring steel? Also, could this easily be adapted for ukulele builds?
@homebuiltshop
7 ай бұрын
The steel sheets and blanket I ordered from Luthiers Mercantile. Unfortunately they are going out of business. I know there are several blankets like that on Amazon. Its just a 110v heating blanket. I think the spring steel is .007" or there abouts. It could totally be adapted for ukeleles.

Now, i'm assuming you would use a router if you didn't have the c n c machine, so what would you do different if you were using a router? I look forward to hear from you by for now ken
@homebuiltshop
Жыл бұрын
I would draw it out on a piece of plywood, then cut it on the bandsaw. For the slotted piece, I'd use a router and a straight edge to cut the slot.
