I was interested to see the Lollar Special T, because I'm thinking about swapping my current bridge pickup for one. I built a body, got a Warmoth neck (modern construction) with the 10-16" compound radius and the vintage style bridge pickup that I had with the staggered pole pieces just doesn't work very well, so I searched around the net for replacements with flat pole pieces and I must say the Special T sounds really good. I'd probably get the same neck pickup, but this build has a mini-humbucker (some generic 'tron style), which sounds pretty good as is. I did some crazy wiring, because why not. I did the four way switch, but I also have a tap to switch the mini-humbucker to single-coil, and... a push-pull to for phase. Do I need all that? Probably not, but it doesn't affect anything when it's all switched to normal. Mine is a surf green with a parchment pickguard that is engraved with "atoms" in copper, but I really like yours. Looks very "Keef".

Very cool! If I ever get a tele, I want a fat neck but maybe a touch thinner than the early 50s baseball bat U and I would definitely put Lollars in it, probably Special T's but I'm not 100% decided - the Sixty Four set in my strat and Imperials in my Les Paul are really killer and balance well.

@@SuperdangerStudios I might get this pickup for my tele after watching your video! Les Paul specials are very close to a tele. I recently picked up an inexpensive Epiphone one (inspired by Gibson) and after 20 years of being a telecaster guy and not being able to like a regular LP, It has become my favourite guitar. Try one, you'll love them. The middle position is amazing and the neck is like a nocaster neck: so chunky! If you find a used Epiphone, try one, they're so cheap and so good!

Quick question on your use of BBE - you're the only guy on KZitem I've seen using them (your sound is great btw). Any opinion on their stuff? I have a couple of BBE pedals that I use.
@SuperdangerStudios
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joel! Sorry for the delay. I love the BBE pedals. Josh from JHS does a great roundup of them on his channel. Although it looks like he loves all pedals so I am not surprised haha. I have the boost, the sonic maximizer, and the crusher, which is nearly identical to the old marshall bluesbreaker pedal. I think they are great for a certain sound, like all pedals, some have their uses but rarely are they an always on pedal. The only one that comes close to that is the origin effects cali76 and the xotic ep booster. The sonic maximizer is great for cleaning up muddy pedals in lieu of an eq pedal. The boosta is great for tons of clean boost, either to drive a pedal or an amp. The crusher has a very specific sound and is fun to play but it rarely sees the stage or the recording phase. Which BBE pedals do you have? Cheers dude!

Hi Martin, thanks for the kind words. I wired this guitar for neck, bridge, neck and bridge in parallel, then neck and bridge in series which acts like a faux Humbucker. It’s a much darker sound but can be great for solos/leads bc it bumps up the volume by 2-3dbs.
