Purlins describe the function of the hat channel. They typically connect trusses and are more part of the roof structure, but I've heard the ones that connect the columns described as purlins also. I think that's pretty common in steel buildings. That's a great looking building, btw. Nice job! I've been considering doing one of these instead of the wood ones from Home Depot or Lowes.

Before I screw in the screws into the hat channel, I snap a line with my chalk snap liner tool. It make the screws line up professionally straight and you know exactly that each screw will go into the hat channel.

Could you PLEASE (I'm kinda begging) extend your courtesy and let me know what type of insulation went on the roof BEFORE you installed the roof panels? I noticed a white vapor barrier I guess they call it, which I assume goes downwards, but is it attached to the actual insulation that gets rolled out or is the white vapor barrier installed first and the insulation rolls out on top of it? I also assume the roofs hat channels / purlins is what keeps it from falling thru.....PLEASE reply, as this is the ONLY versa tube video I can find where roof insulation went on FIRST. Perhaps the type and brand if you would be so kind. GREAT JOB by the way !!!!

This is how they say to put on the 3” insulation. This insulation is from VersaTube. It worked well. We didn’t do it on the side even though that is what the recommended. We used it after building the wood walls and right before the drywall. You can check out episode three and 4 for that content.

I'm curious if there was a reason you did not set in anchoring threading during the concrete pour. Do you feel like the red heads are equally adequate or was it more of a just wanted to make sure the measurements were right for the structure?
