Something else you might consider is a water fountain. You can put the intake on one side of the pond and the fountain on the other an it will circulate the water. Aeration will make your fish grow larger. The Japanese aerate their mud ponds with what looks like a steam boat paddle that spins and flips and splashes the water. I have a Karashi Koi from Japan that is 28 inches and still growing he would get huge in that pond.. With catfish you will always have muddy water. You can also use septic tank bacteria and enzymes in your pond read the labels there are fish safe ones. If you pour it around the aerator it will eat up sludge.

Y’all are the 2nd most snakey place I know. I used to go hunting w a friend and when we did the summer work of brush cutting , planting and just working the land etc we’d see at least 100 rattlesnakes during the summer. Those things were massive. Probably 10” round and 6-8’ long. There were no small ones that I ever saw. Part of the land was about 50 acres of hayfields. They bale up large round bales and stack them around the field to get as needed. If you disturbed any hay bales be ready for a few to come out from under them. It was one of the rules if the club that we had to wear snake boots at all times even during the winter because here in alabama it can still be 60-70 degrees in the winter sometimes. Then when I started watching y’all’s channel & seeing all the snakes y’all find y’all come in #2 as most snakey places I’ve seen. Lol Be vigilant out there

Spencer here's a tip I learned while maintaining a 20 acre lake and it applies to a pond as well. To impede the growth of algae one has to cut back the amount of light penetrating the water causing algae growth. I used a product called Aqua Shade that is highly concentrated and it colors the water and shades it as well. There is zero harm to the fish and small crustaceans st the bottom of the food chain. I'm not promoting a specific product because there are many good ones. Most golf courses use an aqua shade and I recommend doing that to enhance the beauty of your pond.

Whoa, you have some eater sized catfish in that pond! If you catch some and eat some of the smaller ones now, that will allow the other to grow bigger. So fillet them up properly, and soak the fillets in a bowl of cold, iced water and lemon juice over night. That will remove the gamey taste, coat them with Louisiana seasoning and breading and just pop them in the air fryer 390 degrees for 18 minutes. You'll save so much money on your grocery bill.

I have been watching y'all from the beginning and have enjoyed every minute. Thanks so much. The aeroater seems like some icing on top of the cake doing something that will improve the lakes appearance and the creatures therein. Something enjoy when not so busy building, fixing and minding two cute little rug rats. Now put up some hammocks and sip a mint julip while the babies are napping. Congratulations!

Great Job! I have a wire connected to my aeration unit so I can pull it in and out of the pond easily.

It is amazing to see the amount of work you have done in the last three years! The pond is looking wonderful already!

The cat fish can be used as dog food and fertilizer. Reducing their numbers will help clear the pond as they are bottom feeders.
