Finally a UK video that uses pipes that's standard, as you used the ground pipe was it relatively simple to shape because I've tried various ideas using pipe and heating and reform to a different ish shape. 👍

This video is incredibly well made! I subscribed so quick. It shows that you took time and effort to produce something good.

Cut up pieces of foam pool noodle, trim to fit, and put them in the cup holes whenever you are not having plants in them. It will stop the water from spraying out of the tower.

Really fascinating and I learnt a lot from this. Very inventive and interested to see how the plants turn out.

Thank you for this. I wanted to try growing aeroponically too and really appreciate your video. I live in a way smaller space and only have my room. I saw this method where one or two plants were grown but the branches were "encouraged" to grow through chicken wire so that the top surface area was expanded without having more plants (i think they did it for pot) I'd like to do it for herbs and tea tho

Good stuff - one note is that 'As far as I know' - the grey pipes are UV resistant whereas those ones are not - so if you intend to use the pipe outside you need to check that.

What type of pump do you use?

I love all these tower gardening videos. I'm a complete newbie. My one question is why all of them seem to need to use a pump to spray the nutrients. With any electronics, the chances of a part going will make it more problematic. Wouldn't it be better to have a way to pop some water at the top and let it spiral all the way down spraying the plants, or some other way to pump it to the top. The water at the bottom could be collected in a glass container. Just speculating.

I’m in the UK as well. Can you tell me where you got the pipe from? I’m branching into other forms of hydro and aeroponics❤️

Its just standard underground pipe, i`d suggest using 160mm for hydro or soil. kzitem.info/news/bejne/xombloOLbKuqjKg It doesnt have enough internal space for genuine aeroponics which uses mist, barrels are the best option.

Thanks for sharing.... But one question. Why not drip water from top instead of spraying???
@cluttercookseys2058

Good question, it may work with a slightly different configuration but I was worried that some of the plants wouldn't get the nutrients they needed. By spraying them I can ensure that every plant is getting a nice dose of water and nutrients, plus they'll hopefully get a bit more oxygen this way. In a true aeroponics setup the water would be fed at high pressure through atomising spray heads, but that's a project for another time!

@@cluttercookseys2058 With drip you`ll find the plants grow unevenly. Those nearest the supply will grow roots much faster and reduce the amount of water reaching the ones further away. I`d recommend high pressure aero for vertical towers made from barrels etc but not pipes.

@@cluttercookseys2058 yes that is a valid point i guess you can also try to increase flow from nozzles so water don't splash out due to less pressure.. and also like what atomizer says.. i too have observed... My top plants were growing faster and bigger than those at bottom... But I think that it was due to more light they received... Bottoms ones used to get in shade early...

i would try that, it would also be aeroponics if you set it with a timer you avoid clogging of misters but plants would die too if power is lost

nice video, I have a quesiton: How does the sprayer tube inside the the towertube enhance vrs just letting the water drip down from the top?
@atomizer2665

Roots soaked by a sprayer or by water running down the tower will produce the same result.
@Arterexius

The sprayer is just more efficient, as it doesn't require the water to constantly be dripped down from the top, but can be let out in small, timed bursts. Plants don't need nutrients and water 24/7, so timing it is more cost effective as you save on both electricity and water.

Pipe is great, container for water source is great. The spray bits in the tubing is a bit over done. Just have it drip from the top. Less work in the end.

Is there a problem with the plants in the tower that dont face the sun? In my head there would have to be electronics that spin the pillar very slowley so that every plants gets sun

Just a note, plants don't need oxygen. They use carbon dioxide.
