This AMT model kit sucks. So many issues. Missing steps in the directions & so many parts don't fit together. it is a nightmare. After fighting with it, it came down to the final assembly, aaaaaaand the chassis doesn't fit. don't waste your money on this kit.

Hi Chad? I just started getting back into Scale Auto Modeling. Your videos are amazing!! great camera work, lighting, and focus! I am hoping to build a late model Corvette '97 to 2004. It would be nice to see a video documenting the build of a modern Corvette. Let me know if you've got anything in the works for that? Thanks!!

The 1/24 Car models I did from 1982-89 I loved it man... All drag cars.. An those models are made the same way back in the 80s with the typical clean up on the plastic nothing major... I'll never forget in 1984 at age 11 I bought Kenny Bernstein s Budweiser funny car an spent days an nights making it best I could,, but I came up with idea of putting cotton around the back tires an put a lot of cotton coming from the back to about 10 inches of a burn out cloud, but I didn't like how white the the smoke would be, so I came up with a brain fart of a idea to darken the cotton to make it look like real smoke, I took a lighter an soon as I lite the cotton, that sucker went up in flames so fast from the very end of the burnout smoke "cotton" to the very front end of the funny car in complete flames.. An better yet I had the car glued to cardboard "Race track"...

Nice! ...but man these instructions are *TERRIBLE!* I'm not experienced with this and trying to build one of four optional engines when half of the parts are numbered wrong, or simply non-existent.... I'm stressing!

AMT model kits suck. I'm doing a 68 Mustang and it is very difficult, the instructions are useless, and parts hardly go together. Next time I will go Revelle

I recently got a couple apt scale model cars and everything to build it and paint it, etc... I have some questions, and I am trying to gather as much information as I can before I start so I don’t mess up... so do I have to sand every piece & prime each piece before painting it the desired color? Also how will I know where the mold lines are?
@ScaledDownCustoms
3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the hobby. First of all, not to burst your bubble but you are going to mess up. I still have mess ups on every kit I build, in-fact I have had soo many mess ups that I have come to learn that almost all mess ups are repairable. The key is to learn from them and then keep building. To answer your first question, you don't have to completely sand every piece. I sand all the body pieces but the rest of the pieces, chassis, interior, engine, etc., I only clean up and sand the sprue cut points. I then glue all similar color pieces together prior to paint. I do paint every piece. Next question, the mold lines are generally on the top most portion of the fenders and if you run your finger across them you will feel an "edge" depending on the quality of the kit. Be sure to check out some of my other videos where I go into more detail on all of these things. Good luck and I'm here to help.

@@ScaledDownCustoms thank you so much! I put my motor together last night and painted it tonight, and built the chassis and painted that as well!I just have to do the body & interior and my first model will be complete! Thank you for the advice and I will be sure to watch more of your videos!! I just hope 10-20 years down the road they’ll have them still... my father used to do them when he was a kid, he put light up lights in some of his

Scaled Down Customs thanks! I do have a question for you. After applying the primer, how many coats of paint do you use when painting the body?

Depends on the primer you use and how well the paint covers. I find most of the time I use three coats.

Sorry for so many questions. The glue you squirt on the tape. What is it? It doesn't dry up quick.
@ScaledDownCustoms

I am using CA super glue for most of my applications. It will dry out but when I have a larger "blob" it dries out slower and give me time to apply it.

I'm blown away by the engine/transmission wash. Did you thin the weathering paint, or just apply out of the jar? Is it an oil or water based paint?
@ScaledDownCustoms
3 жыл бұрын
I apply the Mr. Hobby weathering product right out of the bottle, let it stand for just a bit and then use the Mr. Hobby 110 solvent to thin and remove the weathering product to the level I want. I am not sure what base it is as it is all in Japanese but I apply it over my lacquer based paints without any issues.
