I’m a builder of scenes with my planes, but really like this base and photo mural wall around it. Definitely food for thought for the next one.

Hello Clayton, A base with some kind of groundwork and figures definitely enhances a finished model's appearance. I have only a few displayed that way. Seems once the model is finished, I rarely go back to it once it is placed in my display cabinet. As always, your work is outstanding and this particular model/diorama is very well made! My compliments Clayton, HUZZAH!!!

Excellent video! You know, the whole reason why I got into model kit building was because I wanted to do this. Built a set and then add the base to make it a diorama. However, the amount of work it actually takes, the buy of the fake grass, wood, paint, and more glue killed my interest on it but also because I became also aware of freedom in the hobby. This is what I mean: not having built the diorama allows me to freely combine a model with another different model to make it part of that “scene”. For example I built my m4 but since it doesn’t have infantry with it, instead of building a scene (making it thus “permanent”) I bought some infantry and built it and now I have a choice of building a base with or without the infantry and thus allowing me to be “free” and try poses when I want to just place them in a table. It also allows me to make such a small scene a big one as I can then add more models and thus make it such a big diorama without making it permanent. Plus storage is an issue. Since i have limited space on my room, I can put the individual model in my shelf compared to the model plus a base who is quite big. And I can move it as I please without requiring much space to show them to my friends and family. Yeah I do wish that I have the patience to build a base, but the freedom or flexibility that it gives me for me outweighs the coolness of building a base and then make an actual diorama. Any who, great base

Storage space is definitely an issue, and I understand about the permanent nature of fixing the model to the base. For me though the display bases are the ones that are the most appealing displays to non-modelling people. They provide scale and context. Thank you as always for your thoughtful insights 💪🍺🙏

Lovely work, Clayton. The 410 is excellent, but the base really elevates it! I'm definitely in the "should, but never quite do" camp when it comes to bases. I've done a few, but have baled on many, many more! Thanks for the inspiration to fix that.

Wow, very nice base with the infographic! I am the type that when I finish the model, I want to be done lol, a base just seems like more work I don't want to do. But like you I need to push past that, as I want to try one too.
