Well just so there is no confusion, there are bigger differences between the regular 335i and the 335is. Apart from the aesthetic changes (black mirrors, no fog lights, unique rear diffuser, "is" badging inside/outside, and gray gauges) BMW also added a unique sports exhaust which is different from the regular 335i sport exhaust, Motor mounts are stiffer, it has a bigger cooling fan, an additional oil cooler and an additional radiator (hence the foglight delete for airflow). The engine is basically identical to the one in the 1M with the turbo overboost AND while it wasn't mentioned in the video it was offered with a 6speed manual tranny for those who dont want only 2 pedals. Hope this helps.
@Enzonius
6 жыл бұрын
Oh also, I'm curious how his DCT will hold up to the power in the long run. There have been many on the forums who blow the DCT tranny's because they were only designed the 290ish ft/lbs of torque that the M3 V8 makes. They were never intended to handle the mountain of torque a modified N54 engine makes. This guy might have almost double the original torque this tranny was designed for.
@maxnix346
6 жыл бұрын
@@Enzonius Not true! If you look at the GETRAG page, these DCT are rated for ~500 ft. lbs. Also, there are clutch kits for those going higher in the torque curve.
@maxnix346
6 жыл бұрын
There is no additional oil cooler, but there is an additional pony radiator on the driver's side. The E93 335is convertibles lack these and thus retain the fog lights. The ducting for the airflow to the oil cooler on the passenger side is much improved over any other E9x 335i.

To me, the e90's interior feels like a downgrade in build quality from the e46's interior. Same for e60 vs e39. But the F30 feels like a further downgrade from that. The door handles, points you touch daily, are Kia like in terms of feel.

Just to clear a few things up, the 335is comes with a little more than what the owner stated - the MPPK (M-Performance Power Kit) basically comes with upgraded intakes, exhaust, and some extra tuning to allow it to hit the advertised numbers and have that overboost setting. Also, it does come with a Limited Slip Differential (it was one of the biggest selling points for enthusiasts considering the "regular" E92's only had a electronically controlled open differential). Just because I'm an F30 guy and wanted to clear this up, the chassis code for the M3 for 2015+ is the F80.

I thought there was going to be a comparison? Where's the tuned M3? Anyway I see a lot of chatting about the differences and they are many. I was glad to hear him say "With this set up you get a fast GT car" and that's what it comes down to. I had a 2008 335i with the bolt ons and tune and it was very quick in a straight line. (390+ HP and 412 torque). But I wasn't happy with just that. When I was trying to maneuver through traffic (not like a douche just everyday stuff) I would want to get out of a lane and step on it but then it would be 1 second 2second and TOO LATE. Then in corners I felt like I was still driving my dad's car instead of a sports car. Soooo I sold it and bought an E46 M3. Now driving is what MY limits are about. Not the car letting me down with it's limits. It does what I tell it to when I tell it to do it and I can carve the corners like I'm wearing a sports car suit. It's not as fast in a straight line (Maybe .5 of a second difference). But I enjoy driving so much more. LOVE THE LSD TOO! Mind you this video makes me think about having both LOL. But hey couldn't a guy get a M235i and just go nuts on it with doing a build and come out with a killer in all areas? Or is the N55 just not doable like that?

Previous owner of a tuned 2007 e92 BMW 335i Dct and now the owner of a 2016 F80 M3. The only thing better with the e90 model is the hydraulic steering and it's purely opinion about the sound each car makes. Niether sound like a big block v8 or a Ferrari V12. The 335i e90 model and 340i f30 model are no way In comparison to an M car. BMW does a good job making sure the cars only share 30% of the same parts and it's immediately noticeable. People say they can build a non M car into an M car are kidding themselves. I'm not saying it cant be done but why would you spend more money building it than just buying an M car from the beginning. Be mindful an F80 can be tuned reliably (Bootmod3) also because it's a turbo and has forged internals. The Dct in the new F80 M3 is 10 times better than the e90 335i Dct. I conclude the 335i and 340i are great cars but they in no way resemble an M car. My current cars are in the thumbnail.

The only N54 car I’d own to mod the fuck out of would be a 135i so I could turn it into a 1M clone and just rip on every fucking car on the road in a lil ass coupe hehe

Nice double promo. I'd buy the foxbody and give it to my dad if I had the capital. Personally, I would take the m3 if money isn't an issue. Stock vs. Stock the M3 is obviously better. If you have the same performance mods you put on the 335, onto the m3, you'll have once again a better car than the 335.

Ehh the IS is more rare tho. Think about the production years of the two models. Longevity wise I believe both cars are going to maintain value if not rise come 8-10 years from now.

Not really; all you have to do to the 335 is some bolt-ons and a tune to get a TON more power - think nearly 200whp increase. You'll exceed the M3 power level by a pile. The M3, as great a car as it is, has a naturally aspirated V8 that just isn't that easy to make more power out of. You've got to drop thousands in to add forced induction to make any real gains.

I have the same car I bought it back in March and the day that I bought it the guy did smog the car he had the certificate but this thing is heavily modified no turbos but it's got a muffler delete downpiped cool air intake there's more I don't know much about this s*** honestly I bought it cuz it was fast not crazy but you know and my favorite year supposably the car makes over 300 horsepower and I wouldn't doubt it I've been in a lot of fast cars this car definitely does moving along pretty good not crazy fast but you know.. I just can't help but to think I'm going to run into some issues when it comes time for me to smog it.. anybody that knows anything about this stuff what should I be looking out for to make sure it does pass on smog day??.. even though he did have the certificate I guess he could have got that anywhere you never know
