Hi Guys, Excellent video. All good. 1) Float function can be utilised for forward pushing when clearing scrub and trees. When you are on moderately hard ground pushing scrub, bush and trees, the float function can assist in creating a large rolling pile of sticks and logs without the weight of it digging into the ground. In short, float forward in thick / heavy bush where there is enough small pieces passing under the blade preventing digging in. 2) As for back-blading. That's fine. The most wear is on the cutting edge and bolts and they are very hard. It's not a problem. As a part of working a dozer, back-blading is probably less than 1% of the work. 3) When both tracks turn opposite to each other it's called "track counter rotation". As was stated in this video, it's best to not make a lot of acute manoeuvres. Sometimes you have to but a good operator will make slow gradual turns to prevent leaving bomb craters everywhere. Less wear and less work is good. 4) The greatest tip I can recommend to any new operator is to control the blade. Know where it is and adjust sparingly. If you are constantly creating trenches, corrugations and wash boards then you're adjusting too much and most likely trying to push too much material too quickly. Gradual in, gradual out. Whilst the greatest efficiency is with a full blade, don't try to get that full blade right at the start of a pass. Gradual in, gradual out. Watch the blade and don't jerk on the control. When you get experienced you realise how little you touch the blade control. This is a good presentation with the operator being humble, non-assuming and self deprecating. Good work. Valuable for the learner and the experienced operator. Thanks :-)

Great Video, Thanks for sharing. When I was in the SeaBee's we had an old D-5 with twin sticks to turn the dozer. SAFETY: The Bee's showed a dozer they had & they tipped it over on purpose to show us that the roll cage will protect you. If you know you're going over, ground all attachments & enjoy the ride. Cool Down: We used to have to let them idle for a couple of min.'s before we shut it down. My how times have changed.

@@Michael-rr1em Look for a school or company locally that can teach you. Or apply for a job with a excavation or land clearing company, You will have to start out as a laborer or shop helper and work your way up.
