I am eagerly awaiting my bags although after my back and forth I opted for the soft bags versus the hard cases. I have to second the opinion expressed in the video regarding customer service: my emails inquiries were answered promptly and once I finally made a decision, the payment confirmation, updates regarding expected availability, and as soon as stock was available a tracking number were quickly communicated. If the bags are half as good as the customer service I will not be disappointed!

Nice video. Congrats from California. How much did they finally cost you? Price comparison with Vario cases? I have a 2021 1250gs and did some research into non BMW cases and finally went in for the Vario. One reason was I didn't want to mess around with removing foot pegs, exhaust etc. and the expansion of the cases.. Here in the USA all 1250gs comes with the side mounts for the Vario cases, the top case is another story, one has to buy a plastic mounting bracket for USD 200 (with tax) and swap it with the original. Highway robbery!!! Why BMW cannot provide this is mind-boggling. It took my friend and me about 45 minutes to install the mount for the top case and re-key the 3 Varios to my key.

Thanks for the comment. I really love the bike. Especially coming from a Harley Road King. It does everything i need it to do. I must admit that I have not done as many miles on it as I would have liked. The covid crisis locked New Zealand down for a long time and i work abroad for 6 months of the year. I also traded the stock bike in for a factory lowered version as I am not very tall and was having difficulty with it when stopped. I am probably not the best person to answer all your questions. I never had any issues with engine heat. The two radiators do any amazing job of keeping the boxer engine cool. I have not had any maintenance costs to date. I have added some extras to the bike like aluminium Rad guards, fender extenders. The usual bits. I love the GS. It does everything I ask it to do including with a pillion. I hope this helps you.The Super Duke is an awesome bike as well. I did try one but they were much too high for me. Why did you sell it?

@@WoodendWanderer Thanks for info. Very helpful. I put 20,000 km on the 1290 SD, and thoroughly enjoyed the full featured sport touring ability, sooo capable and fast, though I found the comfort a bit low, and the engine heat when over 30°C unbearable, for my taste. The high comfort rating of the 1250gs is very appealing, as are the looks, and off road potential. I love the HP features too. Oh BTW before the KTM I had four versions of Victory Motorcycles, a Vegas, 2 Jackpots, and a Cross Country. Loved the cruisers.

They look good, but the lock attaching them to the rack looks fiddly and awkward to get at, especially if you had a roll bag over the pillion seat. I'm in need of a pannier set up and considering all the brand's. These come up trumps value for money. But that lock and the fact the lid opens out may get in the way of loading them up, have you found any of my concerns an issue? Cheers
@WoodendWanderer
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Spad562. Thanks for your message. The locks I find are good and once locked in place, the panniers are very secure. I carry a tent over my pillion seat and it does cover the pannier to rack lock mechanism. But I rarely remove my boxes once they are fitted when I'm touring so it has never been an issue for me. The lid opening out the way it does I find is very useful. I use the opened lid as a small table to put my gas stove on to boil a kettle for coffee. The friction lid hinges stop the lid blowing up in any gusts of wind. So far I have not found any major issues. I did add a small wire to the door of the tool box as i kept dropping it when opening it which helped. I use the tool box to keep my coffee and tea bags in as well as my toolkit and puncture repair kit. Hope this helps you.
