tysm for this method! I know this was made a while back, but this helped me so much! This was the easiest method ever, and instead of using bobby pins or spin pins, I used a scrunchie and just applied it over the extra strands of hair, making it look like I did a bun with a scrunchie! Easy and fun to do for school, everyone loved it

+Diane Pruett 39 inches here. I do a high ponytail, put the hair donut on, and flip my head over so all my hair covers the donut like she shows in the video. But then I take another hair tie and put it around both the hair donut and my hair, then take the hair that is left over and wrap it around the bun. Secure with pins. Sounds harder than it is but it is easier for longer hairs.

The ABSOLUTE BEST bun makers I have ever used are by a brand called HAWWWY. You can get them on amazon for super cheap. They have every single kind of bun maker but the "magic bun makers" are by far the best. It definitely takes a little while to learn but once you learn you can make a bun in under 5 seconds and it will literally last until you physically take it out. They make the PERFECT ballet buns. I also have been using spin pins by HAWWWY as well. You can make a messy bun and it lasts all day and only takes 1 second to make. They're like bobby pins but spiral, and you just twist them into your bun. Search HAWWWY on amazon or walmart and you will not be dissapointed. I promise!!!!!!!

So you can use it like a sock bun ... so cool!! I think the sock bun/roll method gives the most texture to the bun - more of the messy look. But the first method of just wrapping the bun in the hair looks the most realistic. Thanks!

Thanks! As a confirmed tomboy, I really needed this explanation. Bun donut came with insufficient instructions. I have a lot of REALLY short layers, which make great '80s palm tree hair--everything else, not so much. So my bun is messy, but I think I can rock the messy bun!

Thanks for your video! I have an idea for you: After you have put the bunmaker onto your ponytail, And you spread the hair around with your head tilted forward, just take another Smallish ponytail holder and put it around the whole thing. As the ponytail holder Closes in underneath the bun Maker, It'll pull your hair in. After that, All you have to do is spin your hair around the outside and pin it Just like you did......so much easier, And much neater looking. Stay's neat all day long.

on the first one if u want a ballerina bun, all u have to do is, put your hair in a pony tail, put the bun maker on your scalp where your hair tie is and spread the hair all around the bun maker and tie it to the bun maker then just twirl the excess hair around the bun and pin hair in place, and there you go, a ballerina bun. and just to say i love your videos.

I don't know if you still even answer questions on this, but I was wondering how this would be for wet hair? If you put wet hair immediately after washing it, could you take it down the second day and have curly hair? I'm just wondering how your hair looks when you take it out, is it nice and wearable or is it a kinky mess? I usually hand roll/twist my hair into a bun to get curls because I have no curling iron, blow dryer, straightener, nothing. I'm wondering if this would be better or worse because I just got one of those fluffy bun things. The video was great though, I know I can wear it up now at least! Thanks :)
@michellerajotte3187
7 жыл бұрын
Honestly, there are other, non-heat ways of curling your hair! You can try the pin-curl way, section out your hair in 1inch squares, and cross bobby-pin the curl to your scalp, while wet. It'll look super natural! Or, what I used to do is French braid my hair in 2 sections and wear wet over night to dry, then take it out, usually more wavy for me. I wouldn't recommend using the bun maker as a curling tool only because, your hair tie would create a large crease, especially tying it as tight as we do. There is also a new way of creating curls but, I'm not sure what they're called. But, there are LOTS of different ways to get nice waves/curls. Just gotta do some research. ;)

This comment is a year old but I thought I’d offer another method. I’ve got decently long hair and I typically just tie it in a high ponytail and twist it until it starts to twist itself and wrap around loosening the center. Then I pull my ends through because I’ve got layers so it’s difficult to pin especially long thick hair. Once I’ve pulled the ends through I just twist and tuck/fan it out to match with the rest of the bun and any clip or pins I have I just pin/clip where the ends are at. My entire bun is mainly secure from being pretty much a ponytail. I can sleep in it too which that depends on where your bun sits and what you use to keep in place. The next day if I’ve worn it days on end I get soft ring curls. Not ringlets but the soft ones you get from like a medium sized curling wand.
