Damn, that last talk with Anson and Michael, where Anson reveals the truth that in his last days, Frank was a remorseful man that regretted his actions and wanted to apologize. And when he realized that Anson was after Michael, Frank tried to protect Michael as best he could, and paid the price. An abusive husband and father, but his last act was trying to protect his son.

Imagine going through all that shit with your dad only to find out he intended to apologize for all of the horrible things he had done. But then somebody kills him before he could. Man that shit had to cut Michael deep. Going from hating his abusive father to realizing his father turned from his evil ways and became a fucking hero.

Even though his dad was mean he did cared for his son. Especially at 46:24

It's astonishing that such a psychopath as Anson gets to bury himself deep into Michael's life. He was pulling the strings from Michael's youth!

In seriousness, there are no words to quantify Anson, he and Red John are similar.

I'm mixed about this scene. On one hand, it is an emotional scene and there good acting from the two in their roles. I also like that it provides more to the character of Frank Westen, allowing us to see that he did regret his decisions and actions towards his wife and children. However, it also raises a huge plot hole. Frank died in 1997 (as Season 1 said) or 1998 (as Season 5 says), and I believe the show starts in the year of 2007. With that in mind, Michael still hadn't become the agent he was known for being in 1997/98. And I find it unlikely that the Organization was that interested in him that early, nor would they keep their eyes on him for nearly ten years without deciding to make him part of their group. Plus, having THE leading member/founder of the Organization be the one who was interviewing Frank to find out more about Michael only makes the world feel a lot smaller. It feels like the "I am your father" moment, where some big reveal connects the main character to the big bad and turning the story into a soup opera. It's just not necessary when Michael's biggest connection is purely because Anson burned him because of his status and legend as an agent. I don't mean to make this scene sound terrible, because it really isn't terrible. It just feels like the writing for the show just wasn't the same as it once was come Season 5.

Exactly, how I felt. Anson was like a leech stalking Michael his entirely life. I hated the 5th season with him always one up Michael who end up clueless what to do. Fiona not helping by turning herself in which is what Anson expected.

Michael's reaction to anson killing his father ultimately was not knowing whether to thank him for ending the abuse or killing him for destroying any chance of a normal family (after learning his father was sorry & intended to apologize). Michael then settled on killing anson.
