This is the only video I could find that tested cotton/poly blend. I immediately knew the first fabric had polyester in it because the smoke was black near the end; cotton has a clean burn. Great vid, thank you!

what is the yellow residue left behind? i’m getting the same thing-oily yellow residue after burning my fabric. both the polyester blends and the cotton seem to have left it in your video.

Good observation. I didn’t use a clean bowl after burning the blended fiber-so I think it’s most likely from the first burns- not from the 100% cotton burn.

Is there any way to find out what % of polyester is in the fabric, if it is not labelled?

Black Smoke/ Black Residue = Polyester No Black Smoke/ No Black Residue = 100% cotton

You can also use a metal container or aluminum foil instead of a glass dish.
