I'm thinking of switching back to coal, I was eyeing up this very furnace! Thanks for the video!

I usually burn wood but my furnace has wood/coal grates. I haven’t had good luck with trying coal but I think you’ve figured my problem. I need to center the coal bed to get better ash shake-out and less coal waste. Thanks so much

I’m currently burning wood in my hotblast. Just picked up a bag of anthracite coal at a local supply store today. Looking to just burn that at night for longer burn times. Any suggestions on this??

Hello Scott'' Yes if you look at my other videos on this , i know i ramble on sometimes, but i do explain how i start it, and maintain, but in short, if you get a good hot bed of wood coal going , then start layering your coal in, small layer at first, let that get going, then another , and just repeat that process until you get your desired amount. look at my other 2 videos on this, it would problay explain it better.. It could be a number of reasons, from not enough fresh air, a blocked flue, built up of soot, wet wood if you're using wood. I'm burning coal now temp right at 83° and super long burn time. 12 plus hrs. It did take a minute for me to figure it out. After 3 days of dicking with it I've found the sweet spot. I'm sitting right around 80-85 degrees this whole winter so far. And we've had a few days where it was -5 out.

You need plenty of air, unlike wood, give it really good shake to get rid of the ash.

@roystonvehicles9129 without being directly in front of it. It could be a number of things. From my experience, but hey, what do I know. It's really hard to say.

@@roberthunter8573 yes, but I find ash, poor air flow underneath is the main thing, with plenty of air anthracite goes nuclear, you can turn the top air right down.
