Thanks Harry now I got to go get a Pyrography pen. It makes the designs and patters endless to only your imagination. Thumbs up and well done.

Just stumbled upon your videos and I really quite like them. It's a real pleasure to listen to you. You can try to use carbon paper to transfer a sketch to your leather. You can get sheets in A4 really cheap and you can reuse them as well. I use this technique to transfer sketches to watercolour paper and it works really well.

Can you burn leather that is already cured? Like if I were to go buy some leather jackets from the thrift shop? Also where do you get Veg Tan leather and how much does it cost? Really curious in taking this up to make mandolin straps.

Hi Julian it might work on other leather, but veg tan is likely to give best results - its reall a matter of try it and see. You can get veg tan leather from Tandy Leather

Love your video's Harry. Want to make life easier with transfers? Go to welburngourd.com or it may be gourd Farm, anyway look up a product they have called stick and burn. You can use their designs or print your own from your computer.

Hi!...Harry, I am just recently retired and very exited about doing crafts that I have always admired, notably woodwork , which I am somewhat familiar with. However, I've had a big itchin' to work with metal. I started to make knives , which is easy enough to do with the basic tools that I have . This led me to work with leather to make the sheath(familiar story, yes!!) And now , to do the adoration on the leather ,I am looking at your videos . Thank you, sir. I already made a leather working horse from your previous video.

For your sketching Harry if I may make a suggestion to one artist to another. If you make less short strokes and try smooth longer strokes your work will be better. The more you do those hesitant strokes the more chances of making a mistake I used to draw like this and it took a great deal of practice to stop doing it. Try it.

John, you could also try transfering a finished design onto the surface with tracing and graphite paper. Personally, I wouldn't startout doing drawings "Freehand". Good luck!
