What happens when you take an upbeat dance track with plenty of world music influence and slow it right down for solo piano? This. This is what happens...
Aside from a brief course during my time at University, I don't have a whole lot of experience analysing or composing world music. When I heard the music from Half Genie Hero, the newest title in the Shantae series, I couldn't resist the chance to give myself a challenge. Burning Town is an awesome tune, and the track gets remixed/rearranged for every single Shantae game... Of course, I don't think it's ever been arranged quite like this. It was tough finding cool ways to expand the main melodic idea, but I really hope I've pulled it off and put a unique and interesting spin on the track.
Obviously, I didn't write the original pieces of music. The credit for that goes to the supreme talent that is Jake Kaufman, AKA Virt, and the awesome team at WayForward who have developed the series.

And just to make sure no-one thinks I'm lying to everyone, I'll just leave a note here: I'm not a piano player. This is all MIDI, produced using Toontrack's EZ keys, mixed & mastered in Logic Pro 9.
Anyway, you can check out my stuff here if you want to! :)
