I had a Fiesta Red one in the early 2000’s and always regretted selling it. As fate or luck, whatever, would have it I just found and bought a 2000 one identical to the one you fabulously demo’d from a music exchange for only $349 plus $75 shipping and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Thank you for a terrific video… I forgot all about pulling the strings one at a time, very much appreciated!

Hi Dee and thanks :-) Wow - that's a great price! There's only a Burns Marquee that sounds like a Burns Marquee. I think those vibrato systems are brilliant. Like a halfway house between a Bigsby and a Fender Synchronous item. Cheers, Gary :-)

Hi there Bruce and thanks :-) IMO these feel somewhere between a Strat and a Gretsch Streamliner but that's largely down to that oddball tremolo system which produces a similar response as a Bigsby. Terrific instruments :-)

The push-pull switch doesn't 'blend' between the pickups, it is an 'On-off' switch for the Neck pickup, the knob still works as a tone knob when pulled. When the pull-push is pulled, it makes no difference in positions 4 and 5, position 3 will be the same as position 4 (middle and neck engaged), position 2 will give you all three pickups engaged, and position 1 will be Neck and Bridge. This gives you a sort of Telecaster sound. This gives more tonal options than a stratocaster (unless you get a strat with the 'Gilmour mod', which does exactly what these Burns guitars already do).

Hi Adam I bought a "Greeny" colour finish Burns Marquee from my local guitar shop (New Cross, SE London) about 2010. I have often wondered what the "pull/push" Tone knob was for but double handy to find out. I'm defo gonna give it a try, and have a play to see what effects it has. I don't know how Old mine is but I've noticed some minor differnces in the one used in this video. Then again, it has been in to a luthrian. I changed the strings, and took them all off in one go. And he had the task of sorting out the" ball's up" I made of the bridge afterwards. Plays like a dream now, it's such a shame I own it, as I am truly shite. BUT . . . . I say as long as I enjoy myself playing the guitar that's all that counts Thanks for tip Man Kind Regards MG

@@meeshme1961 Hi Mike, nice to hear from you. There are a few different eras and ranges of the Burns Guitars. The original 60s and 70s British ones, later/modern British ones. Then in the 'cheap' range known as the Club series (which is what I've got), there was a Korean run and a Chinese run. I own a Burns 12 String which I think is Korean, and a Marquee that is Chinese and I can't tell an awful lot of difference between the two. I also think there may have been a Marquee Deluxe at some point... what are the differences you notice between your's and the one in the video? The only thing that separates a shite player and a good one is practise, so keep going!

@@adamsoper9713 Hi Adam The one I have is "srewed Down" at the bridge, instead of the "floating" bridge you're guitar has. There are 3 screws attaching the bridge but it works fine with the whammy bar no problem. I also checked other videos on the same guitar. And I spotted a couple of version with the same "set up as mine. Also there is a black neck rod cover where the neck becomes the head stock.

It's amazing that those Burns Rez-o-matik sound so bright considering they're oriented ( angled ) in the direction of the bass strings... Anyway, I've had a lot of fun with mine since I bought it back in 2000...Then I bought a second one and then a Bison reissue and then recently a Cobra 🙂🙂🙂 I've sworn by strats since I started playing back in 1979 and I own many but I just LOVE my Burns because they look different, sound different and feel different... I own two of these. In both cases I replaced "The Point" tremolo (a) because it never returned to tune no matter what, and (b) the string ends stuck in them and had to be persuaded out with an Allen key and a small persuader. Otherwise, fabulous - but my new Burns King Cobra is better!

I have serial nos. 001 and 002, as well as a 2004 Marvin, a 1963 Bison, a much modified 1960 Sonic with 3 tri sonics in series and modified vibrato with floating bridge, a 1963 Vista Sonic bass and I want a '60s Bison bass if anybody's got one. Ta. Edit the point vibrato is a similar design to the Marvin's but without the Rezo tubes which probably don't really increase sustain anyway (just like nothing else does - if you've ever studied basic physics).

Hi Carol, I have to say that's a pretty impressive collection! A buddy of mine studied wavelengths and explained this to me in great detail. I understood almost none of his discourse. However, I might get him to come on and do a slot because it was fascinating and the bottom line is (I think) that when using a modelling amp (or other processor) all the guitar build natural sustain etc is meaningless because amps only understand signals....or something like that. I'll try to cajole him into giving a quick talk about it. He's an aerospace engineer and did a study over a period about this kind of thing. Good luck with your bass guitar search :-)

@@FoxysGuitarShow You can't significantly change the natural decay rate of the string's vibration. You may make it audible a little longer with a good soundboard or whatever but to really stretch it you've got to do it electronically. Edit: Should have mentioned feedback of coursem

What sort of shit guitar is it where you have to remove the neck to access the truss rod? I certainly would never had bought it had I known.
@FoxysGuitarShow
3 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha, that's ace :-) A great many of the old Fenders had concealed truss rod adjustment and there's plenty of others out there, too. Those Ernie Ball OLP series had the adjustment at the body end of the neck but you could get to it without having to remove anything as I recall. It's real pain having to remove the whole shebang to make a quarter of a sodding turn on a screw :-)

You could've got a free, upgraded replacement part back then.. It's a shame those bridges had the manufacturing defect because they were a better system than Fender use. The pickups were also crap in my opinion, compared to alnico ones but they were crap on Mexican Fenders back then too.
