@Obscure Je t'aime Me too. I discovered that not all owls hoot because of the barn owl. Barn owls create screeching call instead of hoots.

Actually, other Athene sp. make similar sounds to the burrowing owl, Glaucidium sp. also to a certain extent. Not to mention that barn owls tend to screech and not hoot.

Beautiful footage of one of more distinctive owl species. Those owls have long legs so they can spent considerable time on ground.

No way, really! I had one living in a broken part of my soffet just above where I have my morning coffee! I have pics of him/her. He unfortunately found a new home but je was so awesome. I wonder is my dog living jere scared him away!?? I hope he comes back, he was like my little pet for a while. I would go and talk to him. Haha'he was super cute Nd made the cutest sounds

I had one living in my home. Well, a broken part of my soffet after hurricane Irma. He lived there for a while. Super cute! I hope he/she comes back! I have so many up close pics. Its a shame I cant share here! Made the cutest sounds too!

Since Owls fly very low to the ground they are susceptible to being hit by cars. It is sad when it happens.

Yep. That sounds exactly like the owl perched outside. Marco Island Owl Watch volunteers dug out a starter burrow just the other day and we now have a tenant calling out for a mate.

They are called burrowing Owls. These are in Cape Coral Florida. The ground there is idea for them to dig their burrows.
