I’m amazed you were able to store 1600 pounds of water down there in those underbody bins. I have the same bus and am converting it right now

We didn't have that much water actually! Both tanks were same size of 45 gallons. One for fresh water and one for grey water. It was rare to have both full since the fresh would make it's way over to the grey. But even if both were full that would only by 720 lbs (90 gallons * 8 lbs/gl)

We all know this was a lot of work and yet it looks so simple to me. Simple, clean, and functional. Awesome. Very well thought out. Good for you. Question. Does the hot water on demand not use too much water for having tanks? I have it in my home and the longer runs take a bit before the hot gets there. I’d really like to know. (You bus is so clean!)

Thanks! The on-demand heater doesn't use any more than a different system would. There is a delay for the hot water in the shower. If I were to do it again I'd go with a 6-gallon propane water heater. The reason is that in order to conserve water we would often stop it during a shower. But when you start back up it would get cold for about 5-10 seconds. Usually, we are in warm places so it's not that cold, but something to consider!

Very very nice build. Great attention to details. We're also converting a Thomas MVP-ER bus. I assume it's got a MD3060? We have 6th gear unlocked in our TCM. What is your engine? How does your bus handle mountains? Top uphill speed?
@theartcode8124
4 жыл бұрын
We do have the MD3060! Mountains can be slow going. Rather than top uphill speed I've learned to think of minimum uphill speed. When the hills are steep and long we usually settle in to about 30 mph. Best of luck on your build! Nice work getting 6th gear unlocked!

@@theartcode8124 it's pretty easy to do for a Thomas pusher. Get a letter from engineering through customer service. Take that to an allison shop with your TCM. They reprogram the TCM. Should cost about $100 or so. Biggest concern with many buses is length of driveshaft. Not an issue with the under 2 ft driveshaft of a pusher.

What kind of flooring did you use? Any expansion or contraction?
@theartcode8124
4 жыл бұрын
We used the LifeProof product available at home depot. We didn't have any expansion/contraction problems despite installing it pretty tight to the edges. I did have a few pieces that slipped apart on the short edge close to where they end at the front of the bus. I think the best solution for that would be to nail down any ends that don't end against a wall or similar. In general, the product is great. I made a few mistakes with the install, but those were obviously my fault. I'd recommend it!
